It was announced during the recent Star Wars Celebration event that Godzilla director Gareth Edwards foray into the Star Wars universe will be called Star Wars Anthology: Rogue One, telling the story of the covert operations team that stole the plans for the Death Star, at the cost of many of their lives. More recently Disney and Lucasfilm have decided, in light of the shocking revelations from 20th Century Fox about Chronicle director Josh Tranks alleged lack of leadership and erratic behaviour whilst filming the Fantastic 4, to look for a new director to helm their second Star Wars Anthology movie.
While the search for a director continues with haste it has been reported that the second Anthology movie, the new official name for the Star Wars spin-offs, is being written by Simon Kinberg, whom also worked on the Fantastic Four with Trank (and is believed to be the whistlebower), and will be an origin story for everyones favorite Mandalorian Bounty Hunter - Boba Fett.
Presumably the movie will take place between Episodes II and IV, chronicling what became of the young Boba Fett after the start of the Clone Wars on Geonosis leading up to his employment as Jabba the Hutt's most adept and feared bounty hunter. While we expect very little will be shown of Boba's youth we do expect to see a movie depicting Fett as the fearless bounty hunter we know and love.
While unreliable sources are citing Breaking Bad star Aaron Paul as a possible contender to play the Fett, it is expected that the movie will be released in 2018.
