We've got some good news and some bad news. Let's start with the bad: Star Trek: Discovery was supposed to be released in May, but it's now been postponed to a currently unspecified date, as confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter. This may be because they needed extra time to work on the CGI effects in post-production, but rest assured than filming will still begin on January 24.
Now, the good news: a classic character from the original show will appear in Discovery, albeit played by a different actor. That's right, Gotham's James Frain will star as Sarek, Spock's father. The role was originally played by the late Mark Lenard.
We don't know how big his role in Discovery will be, but it's great that they've now got such a strong connection to the original series.
We'll keep you updated on Star Trek: Discovery as more details come to light.
