Last years micro-budget chiller Sinister was, for the most part a well executed, well paced, intriguing and terrifying horror movie. For many horror fans and average movie-goers alike what let the film down was a rushed and porely executed final act - the movies anti-climatic concusion felt as though director/writer Scott Derrickson and co-writer C. Robert Cargill were unsure how to effectively tie up the narrative in relation to the previous events of the movie. Yet audiences were more than forgiving of this with the movie receiving generally positive reviews on most review platforms. A welcome critical response in addition to box office takings of $87 million, against a movie budget of a mere $3 million almost guaranteed a sequel.
So it is no surprise that a sequel to Sinister is to begin filming in Chicago next month, this time directed by Ciaran Foy (Citadel) based on a script again written by both Derrickson and Cargill, with a release date of August 21st 2015. Will the movie delve more into the history of Bughuul/Mr. Boogie and the serial killings caught on tape? Will Ethan Hawke return?
