The second teaser trailer for Ultraman Ginga S: The Movie – Showdown! Ultra 10 Warriors! isn't much more extensive than the first one, but it does hint at some pertinent story information. The film's villain, Etalger, seems to have been hunted by Ultraman Zero who arrives with the line, “I've been looking for you!”
It's also interesting to note that Ultraman Zero is using the Shield of Baradhi which he acquired from Ultraman Noa, aka Ultraman Nexus, who will also be appearing in the movie. (This old Nexus fan, for one, hopes there will be a nice nod to that connection.)
Finally it looks like Ultraman Ginga will be getting a new, powerful form which the end of the trailer teases. It seems like some sort of fusion between him and Ultraman Victory. Take a look and sound off what you think about the upcoming film below:
I'll be brutally honest, if it weren't for Nexus I wouldn't have a lot of excitment for this one. The obvious ploy is that Tsuburaya is using nostalgia to pull in some older fans-- and I concede it's working on me. Regardless, once the Ginga era is complete, I hope Tsuburaya considers something different for the franchise. Ultraman used to push the genre, not resign itself to mediocrity and nostalgia. I'll probably find myself enjoying this film, (because I'm rarely not entertained by Ultraman) but I hope Tsuburaya will make riskier entries in the franchise (like Ultraman: The Next) while staying lucrative. Something more interesting than the new film is the franchise's future. What will post-Ginga bring?
