Two years ago we received the awesome news that we were getting two new seasons of the hit UK science fiction TV comedy show Red Dwarf, but the reality has been somewhat bittersweet. With the cast not exactly getting any younger, as is somewhat evident in the last series, and with their priorities and/or obligations to other projects affecting the shows return, the truth is that the eleventh and twelveth seasons, each comprised of only six episodes may very well be the last, which would be a great pity for fans of the show.
Red Dwarf: Season XI was a much-needed return to form for the series that felt somewhat disjointed in recent seasons that saw the series resurrect characters that had only ever been featured in flashbacks; the full crew of the Red Dwarf. The series' return to the intrapersonal dynamics of the four main characters of Dave Lister (Craig Charles), Arnold Rimmer (Chris Barrie), Cat (Danny John-Jules), and Kryten (Robert Llewellyn), and their misadventures was welcomed by many fans with Season XI. Having been shot back-to-back with the previous season at Pinewood Studios in late 2015 and early 2016 the forthcoming Red Dwarf: Season XII should also see our favorite smeg-heads get into all manner of bizarre and hilarious space-bound mishaps, as can be seen in the clip below...
Season XI aired on British TV channel Dave last September, with Season XII returning next Thursday, October 12th, although on-demand viewers can catch the first episode tonight via UKTV Play.
