Since Rocksteady shocked everyone with the surprise reveal of their next game Batman: Arkham Knight, many fans have been trying to decode the true nature of the games plot from what little snippets have been released. For example - We know that the elusive Batman-esque Arkham Knight is to be the Dark Knights prime adversary, similar in nature to Dark Link from Legend of Zelda or Wario from the Super Mario games. We also know that Arkham favorites Penguin and Two-Face are set to return, with Harley Quinn available via pre-order.

Now, thanks to Kotaku we now know that Johnathan Crane AKA the Scarecrow, whom has already been confirmed to return, will return as the games super-villain - influencing events throughout the game. Reportedly Scarecrow has taken advantage of the mysterious Arkham Knights intense hatred for the Batman, employing the new villain to destroy the caped crusader while the Scarecrow and his own personal army (pictured below) threaten and prepare to cover Gotham City in "Fear", a thick cloud of deadly gas, similar to that last seen in Batman Begins. While the above picture suggest that Batman may have the ability to throw multiple batarangs mid-glide, presumably at the press of a button, similar to the Dark Detectives other aerial attacks.

Scarecrows return was hinted at, multiple times, in Batman Arkham City - most notably the characters potato-sack gas-mask on a bridge near the industrial area, and nearby, a barge filled with cockaroaches. Yet the characters last appearance as an enemy was back in the first instalment Batman: Arkham Asylum, in hallucinogenic platform sections whereby Batman had to reach the end of the stage while avoiding detection from the supersized Scarecrow.
