Director Matt Reeves two most well known films to date are 1995's Under Seige 2: Dark Territory, of which he co-wrote, and the infamous Cloverfield (2008), of which he directed. Not a good resume then for the director of a sequel to a highly successful prequel to one of science fictions biggest movie franchises. Thankfully the Reeves' follow up movie after the almost universally scorned was the surprisingly impressive Let Me In (2010), of which Reeves both wrote and directed. The movie, starring rising starlett Chloe Grace Moretz and Kodi Smit-McPhee, told of the strained friendship between a lonely young boy and a vicious, blood thirsty vampire little girl.
The young Smit-McPhee returns under Reeves direction once again as Alexander, a member of the Human group that befriends Caesar and his Ape empire, in the hope that the two sides can co-exist peacefully in the new world order.
