Speaking to IGN recetly Australian director George Miller was asked to relate the backstory details of one of the characters from this summers critically acclaimed Mad Max Fury Road. During development of the script in comic book style storyboards director Miller and his co-writers Brendan McCarthy and Nico Lathouris developed the backstories for each and every character in the movie, including Immortan Joes Blind Guitarist AKA the Doof Warrior (played by iOTA). Here's what Miller had to say...
"He was just a natural player. He had an old guitar and because he was blind - "where can a blind man survive with a competitive advange over the sighted". So he grew up in a deep, dark mine. He didn't need light, and anyone whom came there would be at a disadvantage, because he [the Doof Warrior] knew his way around the dark. nd the way he communicated with everyone sustained him, with the music - its the only voice he has. He lived there with his mother."
Such amazing attention to detail and such enthusiasm for his work is what makes George Miller one of the best directors in Hollywood. We can be safe in saying that the two reported sequels, that have already been written, will be just as vivid and rich as Fury Road and we look forward to the completion of Millers next movie so that he can return to the deeply imaginative world he created back in 1979.
