In Vanity Fair's recent cover story covering Star Wars: The Force awakens, LucasFilm president Kathleen Kennedy was asked about the status of a possible new Indiana Jones Movie. Indiana Jones 5 has long been rumored, but has never been confirmed until now. However, now it has been officially confirmed, although not for the immediate future, and there have been no indications of who has been cast so far, or even if Harrison Ford is returning to the role. Here is the excerpt of what she said in the print interview:
"Kennedy confirmed rumors that another Indy movie ‘will one day be made inside this company. When it will happen, I’m not quite sure. We haven’t started working on a script yet, but we are talking about it.'”
So to analyze this, they do have plans for the Indiana Jones franchise still. However, there is no script yet but it is deep in discussion. Chris Pratt has been heavily rumored for the role among other actors although Lucasfilm has not commented on any possible change to the actory portraying Indiana Jones as of yet. For these hoping for a relaunch of the series, this is an incredibly hopeful piece of news. Hopefully we will hear more about this soon as Disney moves closer to an official announcement.
