For a while during the nineties and early noughties LEGO had become a victim of its previous success during the 70's and 80's. The Danish toy giants own lines had become so premium that prices rocketed, nearly locking out a whole generation from the ingenius wonder of the toy that can be used to make virtually anything a child, or child at heart, can imagine. Thankfully, the launch of the low priced Bionicle action figure sets in 2001 Made LEGO accessible to all once again and ever since the company has released a whole barrage of low priced sets across all of their product ranges.
In addition to recent video game releases and the popular LEGO movie, another part of LEGO's recent resurgance of success comes from its movie and superhero lines which cover many of LEGO's available ranges including standard (or system) LEGO, action figure sets and the hotly sought after UCS sets. LEGO recently released the magnificent Tumbler set (76023), based on the vehicle from Christopher Nolans Dark Knight trilogy. The set is still available direct from LEGO.com for £160/$250. And while we eventually expect a similar model to become available for the new Batmobile to be driven by Ben Afffleck's Batman, for now we will have to manage with a system, minifigure sized model...
According to a report from WSJ, the above set, complete with a BvS detailed Batman minifigure, and others licensed from next years Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice will be on display at this years Comic Con in San Diego which kicks off next Thursday. Expect to see a BvS Batwing on display too.
