John Boyega is currently at Legacy Effects as they prepare for filming Pacific Rim 2 and recently he shared a neat video from behind-the-scenes to his followers on Instagram! In the video, Boyega holds up a mold made of himself. This mold is likely going to be used as a template for his Jaeger pilot fear, or as a base for some unfortunate practical effects death scene, but we expect the latter to be more likely between the two scenarios.

John Boyega will play the son of Idris Elba's Pacific Rim character, Stacker Pentecost. It is expected that he too, will join the ranks of the Pan Pacific Defence Corps and dawn the Jaeger Pilot armor to defend Earth from the impending Kaiju onslaught.
On February 23rd, 2018 Pacific Rim 2, currently dubbed Maelstrom will arrive in theaters. Steven S. Deknight is directing the picture with Guillermo del Toro, director of the first Pacific Rim, remaining on board as executive producer.
