Critics loved Denis Villeneuve’s remake of Dune and so did we! So, we're thrilled to know that Legendary and Warner Brothers have greenlit a sequel already! Part 1, which released to a fantastic box office take last year only covered less than half of the material from Frank Herbert’s original novel from 1965 which the film is based on and left on a substantial cliffhanger.
Villeneuve will return to direct the sequel and in a recent statement, he was quoted saying:
I just received news from Legendary that we are officially moving forward with Dune: Part Two. It was a dream of mine to adapt Frank Herbert’s Dune and I have the fans, the cast, and crew, Legendary and Warner Bros. to thank for supporting this dream. This is only the beginning.
Dune Part 2 is currently slated for an October, 2023 release date!
