The art of Marketing a movie changes with the times. Once upon a time all a trailer needed was a few high paced scenes, some quick editing and the obligatory deep-voice voice-over. Though we may roll our eyes at the memories of such trailers they were better than those that went before, with many trailers in the 1960-70's running for up to five minutes and narrating the entire plot, twists and all, of the movie it was trying to market - never a good idea. Today it seems that movie marketing has once again gone out of control with the growing trend of releasing teaser trailers for forthcoming trailers, in essence marketing the marketing of the movie. Lets just hope this trend stops before we start getting a much longer chain where studios begin marketing the marketing of the marketing of the marketing of the marketing of the movie. Give it time; you know it will happen!
