Crossover movie fighting game could happen?

Being a fan of both movies and video games I have always looked forward, but usually been let down when the two mediums combine, such as with 2008's Doom movie or most video game adaptations of movies like Aliens Colonial Marines. While it's true that we have had a few rare treats such as the Silent Hill movies and video games like Alien Isolation and Goldeneye, most efforts on either side are ultimately cash grabs aimed at an established audience, with little to no love or care involved in the adaptation. When I was in my teens I had once hoped to address this. I had imagined and to some degree designed (on paper at least) a fighting game that would see many popular movie characters face off against each other such as RoboCop, Terminator, Aliens, Predator, Freddy Krueger, Pinhead and many others.

I think you all will agree that such a game, developed well would have been and still would be awesome, while some will argue that we already have a small taste of this game with the extra characters in Mortal Kombat X, which gave us Leatherface, Jason Vorhees, the Alien and Predator. If only Netherrealm could add Mortal Kombat 9's Freddy Krueger along with a healthy roster of popular movie characters and realize our dreams. At the recent Mortal Kombat X Pro League Finals in Los Angeles Game Informer asked Netherrealm founder Ed Boon just that...

"Yes, yes! You know, as we've been accumulating them, that idea has been coming up more and more frequently," he says. "You brought it up and a few other people have brought it up like 'why don't you do a horror movie fighting game?' Maybe one day we'll do it."

Imagine a Predator ripping out Ripley's spinal column in front of the OCP building from RoboCop 2, a T-1000 shapeshifting into an Alien in Freddy Krueger's basement, an Engineer ripping RoboCop apart while in Hellraisers hell, Pinhead using his chains to torture Jason Vorhees in front of the Space Jockey - the possibilities are mind boggling.

Which iconic movie characters would you like to see trading blows?

Extend it to the Universal monsters, and we have a game.

We all had those hypothetical matchup arguments with friends over these these guys. Would love to play them out through a character with an MK based game. Dream come true for a teenage me.
