As things currently stand the top three most successful movies of all time, in terms of box office takings, are Avatar, Titanic and Jurassic World, the latter of which narrowly beat 2012's Avengers for third place, but if ticket pre-sales are anything to go by Star Wars: The Force Awakens may yet topple them all.
According to THR The Force Awakens has already sold $6.5 million worth of IMAX tickets since Monday, with movie ticket retail sites such as IMAX, Fandango and Movietickets.com all buckling under the demand for tickets for both IMAXand conventional screenings of the movie. Analysts are predicting the epic movie will easily garner upwards of $600 million worldwide in its opening weekend, breaking Jurassic Worlds record breaking opening weekend of $524 million. But could The Force Awakens really beat Avatars total box office gross of $2.7 billion? If the quality of the final product can match the hype then most likely, The Force Awakens could well become the most successful movie of all time, and could potentially be the first movie to amass over $3 billion in total box office takings.
