Disney and Lucasfilm are keeping many of the details about Star Wars: The Force Awakens extremely close to their chest. Up until a recent image was released showing the actor in costume, many fans were unsure as to whether Adam Driver was playing the new sith character Kylo Ren or the chrome Stormtrooper Captain Phasma. Another mystery that has been the cause of much specuation is the role that Rise/Dawn of the Planet of the Apes star and performance capture pioneer Andy Serkis is to play. A report from StarWars.com covering the recent Vanity Fair photographs shot by photographer Annie Leibovitz that were taken on the set of the forthcoming movie, have released one of Leibovitz's previously unpublished photographs showing Serkis in full performance capture gear (above).
Preceeding the previously unseen image the official site states that Serkis is to play Supreme Leader Snoke. And we believe we may have already seen this new and mysterious character in the image below, taken from the recent teaser trailer - stood in the centre of the stage behind the stormtroopers...
From the characters name we believe that this new character may not be Sith inclined and possibly not even human, but from Serkis' past performances as Gollum, King Kong and Caesar we suspect Supreme Leader Snoke will be a ruthless tyrant regardless.
