Were you excited to see A Quiet Place Part 2 this month? Well, best to curve that excitement because Paramount have decided to delay the film's release date amid the Coronavirus pandemic.
Paramount Pictures released a public statement earlier, stating that the highly anticipated sequel to A Quiet Place would release at a later date once things with the Covid-19 virus blow over:
After much consideration, and in light of the ongoing and developing situation concerning coronavirus and restrictions on global travel and public gatherings, Paramount Pictures will be moving the worldwide release of A Quiet Place Part II. We believe in and support the theatrical experience, and we look forward to bringing this film to audiences this year once we have a better understanding of the impact of this pandemic on the global theatrical marketplace.
Hollywood has suffered a major blow due to this novel virus, with many productions being halted, theatrical releases being postponed and cinema chains limiting their own seating capacity which negatively affect box office performance. Estimates suggest Hollywood as a whole could be taking as much as a $20 billion hit due to these numerous setbacks and delays.
We can only hope this virus runs its course sooner rather than later.
