I think that one of the keys because the film fails it's the neomorph & xenomorph reproduction and growth cycle it's so quick. Everyone wanted a movie with xenomorphs and Scott has done it, but he destroys his own work by not respecting that detail. It is not credible at all that within a matter of 7 minutes such a monster can grow in a human organism. And with the facehugger also does the same. It contradicts Alienn by not respecting the cycle and its time.
