The waters above Japan are warming up and that means the ice holding Godzilla trapped melt enough for him to break free. At the same time another individual wants to find a giant monster of his own to boost the ratings on TV shows. Both monsters make their way to Japan and have a few encounters before having an all-out brawl to decide who is the most awesome between the two of them.
The Good: Everything about this movie is at least decent. There is really nothing about this moving that is bad or even horrible. It is also the first time we get Godzilla in color, which is nice to see. There is a good scene where the military takes a different approach than usual to combatting Godzilla and I found it more interesting than the usual “fire all the weapons at him”.
The Bad: The writing isn’t the best. This is obviously just a reason to have King Kong and Godzilla fight each other and the writing shows that. They also have to go out of their way to depower Godzilla while building up King Kong to be an actual worthy advisory.
The Conclusion: If you are a fan of daikaiju films you should really check this out. I would even suggest this movie to anyone who is a passing fan of monster movies or classic movies.
