Have you ever felt the need to watch Power Rangers, The Matrix, and Godzilla but only had 125 minutes to spare? Then this is the movie for you. This movie is stupid, and I say that in the most indearing way possible. There's no real story, it's just people fight, monsters fight, people fight, monsters fight, random ship battle, people fight, monsters fight. The movie has a huge monster roster and that's both great and bad. It's cool seeing the updated look of some of the monsters, but at the same time some get around 5 seconds of screen time. Hedorah's only scene in the movie is getting blasted out of the water and dying, and there are a few others that suffer basically the same fate. Godzilla's not a monster here, he's a serial killer and all the monsters are his victims, because they put up the same amount of fight as the average teen in a slasher movie. This movie doesn't have more than maybe 5 minutes of conversation without there being a fight scene of some kind. It's a throwback to showa movies, without any of the showa's stories or characters. So maybe it's just the cheesyness of showa all shoved together with millennium designs. The acting is over the top the characters are just there to fight eachother and wake up godzilla and the aliens are just here to take over. A 5 year old could have figured out this story maybe 5 minutes in, and I think that's exactly the type of movie it was going for.
If you want story and engaging characters this isn't the movie for you. This is the type of movie you watch, and just turn your brain off and enjoy.
