Most of the time, I go to a movie theater, there is a moment I get bored. I’ve run out of popcorn, so I stare at the exits, because the movie is being boring. This movie, I forgot about the popcorn.
It was fun, I went in thinking it might be awful, because of the ratings. It wasn’t. After more research I realized how opinionated tomatometer and meta critic are. It is not the overall rating of the critics, but the ratio of the critics who liked it.
Certain categories make a good film, which are Plot, Characters, Special Effects, Overall Enjoyment
Plot - Plot holes, I have gone though them and destroyed by them. One major one I will go over, “If Ghidorah was established as not affected by the orca, then why did he chase Emma?” That was never an established fact, in fact the false king was agitated when Madison used it to distract him from Mark. Anyway, this movie was written characters first. Development was never a problem with them. There is a similarity between the plan of Emma and Marvels Thanos, I do not think that anything was copied, the two movies share a lot, and were written in the same time. 5/5
Characters - I actually cared about the main characters in this film, they weren’t boring and were understandable in their motives. Each of them was dealing with grief in different ways. I am going to compare this to Mary Poppins. In Mary Poppins she comes to save not just the children, but their parents, she came to save the entire family. This is Madison’s purpose, she is the only one who dealt with Andrew’s death in a healthy way. Mark ran away, and Emma pushed it to the back of her mind. Another thing I noticed is when Emma tells another scientist at the temple to go home, she really is trying to save him. Not to the secondary characters, each had a certain quality, that’s it. They were necessary but a little excess. Dr Coleman, had some character development with Mark. Vivienne was a nice character, and it’s understandable why she was killed to establish Ghidorah as a villain. Serizawa was great, and was the driving force of Mark’s development. Just too much background. - 3.9/5
Special Effects - All good except for one thing, a scene at the battle of Boston, where you see Godzilla accidentally destroy a building, camera inside. The cgi was not finished. I really like how light was incorporated to communicate the Titans feelings. 4.9/5
Overall Enjoyment - I loved this movie. I wanted to use this section to explain miscellaneous things. The movie fixed the dark that 2014 had. It used the environments to communicate the type of Titan is was. There were real stakes, and motives. The characters were not too relatable, (trust me, that’s a thing, watch Ford from 2014.) It was a good experience. 5/5
Overall Rating: 89.5/100
