The original and still the best. I've seen both the Japanese version and the American one featuring Raymond Burr. I'll note pacing and dialogue (obviously) change, for the better I'd say. It's one of the best constructed movies ever made, honestly, and it's a shame not all kaiju/Godzilla movies could be as good. Heck, it's a shame they all couldn't retain that score.
