I think what I like about Shin IS the no personality. He's more like this...thing. Like a force to be reckoned with. Again, just my opinion.
Aw and that’s where you are wrong, it’s only a introduction to his personality growth in the reboots of Tohos series, WHICH LEGENDARYS GODZILLA IS BASED OFF OF, SO YOU CANT LIKE THEIRS BETTER THEN THE ONES WHO CREATED GODZILLA, he will grow from a monster to a guardian, who knows until we see a avengers Godzilla movie or endgame
While adding him to the MonsterVerse would help introduce him to new audiences, the main problem is that the character isn't well know so any solo movies featuring him probably wouldn't do well financially.
yeah like give him his own movie and build up him and Godzilla's potential fight?
I mean, adding him might introduce him to audiences. Maybe they would be enticed to look more into his franchise.
my take on it tho
I was kind of hoping that there would be a larger discussion on this topic...
It's hard to compare these two versions, they're two completely different characters. Overall, I like both, although I do like the Legendary version a bit more, mainly because he's closer to the classic Godzilla and has a lot of personality, unlike Shin.
I would love to see Gamera in the MonsterVerse (so we can finally have him fight Godzilla), however I don't know how well general audiences would react to him (a giant turtle that flies by shooting jet streams out of his shell may be a bit too goofy for some people). Plus Gamera isn't as well known to the general public in the same way that Godzilla and Kong are.
Not a sequel but something better which is why Shin has my vote

Well its been ALL QUIET at Alien Day.....
I think DISNEY are in NO RUSH.....
Maybe they will SIT BACK and see how the Fireteam Game and the Novels/Comics that Connect to it will FAIR and also the Amanda Ripley Comics.
Then they can maybe GAUGE what the Fans would be Interested in?
Its a BIT Strange we have seen NO more Information/Updates with the FX TV Series. As ALIEN DAY would have been Ideal to Pitch a few Teasers and HYPE the Show!
I Guess we have to BARE in Mind that COVID does make Shooting Scenes Difficult and the Pandemic Certainly has PUSHED other Shows/Movies back as far as SHOOTING Dates etc.
I do have a FEELING that we could KISS BYE BYE to the Prequels and Alien 3/Alien R as Canon... WHEN we do get what DISNEY has Planned.
Maybe its 5 Year Wait..... 2026.... The ALIENS Sequel.

Indeed Chris it would be Interesting to see some of the Drafts by Paglen/Green from 2014 which is what the Supposed Information was from.
Being as though this Information came from 9 Months prior to the Completion of the Alien Covenant Draft it seems there was Changes... But some things seemed to remained the Same.
*It did appear that Dr Shaw played a SMALL but Important Role, and her ROLE would be to allow David to Create something.
*It does appear in Part that some of the Drawings that David had made of Dr Shaw are the same as what was described as her Fate.
*There was TWO MONSTERS of which ONE was a Creation of Davids.
*And there was more than ONE David Android.
However there was differences like the Monsters were NOT quite the Xenomorph that David created, it was indicated he would Create something like the Ultramorph/Necronom 4 and the other Monster while described similar to the Neomorph it was also supposed to be based off the ORIGINAL HR Giger Concept.
The way it was Described seemed similar to this Concept Work that was for another Alien Project (Red Harvest)

It would seem at some Point they Decided to make David actually be the Creator of the Xenomorph, and then also make the other Monster as based of the Unused Monster from Alien Engineers.
I dont know WHY they Panicked and Felt maybe the FANS would NOT want to see something SIMILAR and that they would NEED to have the Xenomorph Origins given to them instead....
Maybe someday the Drafts from Late 2013 to October 2014 may be released or leaked?
Looks like we wont be seeing the WALTER-MORPH either Now ;)
I remember the Showa since I at least watched most of the earlier films more than once
But seriously on the topic this time, based on the success of GvK, I'm pretty sure the Monsterverse will stick around for a bit longer. Hopefully, this DOESN'T mean we won't be seeing any new Toho Godzilla projects.
I don't think we will see Shin Godzilla 2 as I believe it works better as a solo movie and I believe Toho has said themselves that they aren't interested. Though I think it's unlikely, I do think having 2 Godzilla series running side by side (Monsterverse and World of Godzilla) could be awesome.
I'm definitely more interested in the Godzilla material Toho is backing than Legendary's right now. Hopefully we get an announcement on their end soon, though I would think it will happen after Singular Point and when GvK releases in Japan.
It's not really "Harassing", it's just fair criticism.
I'd say Legendary would take the win in most scenarios. Legendary is far more build for battle and although Shin is pretty durable, Legendary can take a LOT more damage. He's also pretty mobile compared to Shin.
Shin might get some good damage in ones he fires the full power of his Atomic Death, but I think it would take too long to charge fully. Maybe if Shin is able to stay in the fight long enough, he could potentially evolve into a more battle-based form which if he does, he could give Legendary a run for his money.
EDIT: Nvm, Definitely should have read the topic before commenting. I am a dumb dumb
His acting is considered by many Aaron's worst performance that wasn't Age Of Ultron, and I didn't care for it either. He wasn't convincing to me.
Stop harassing GVK my dude.
Looking back at older articles, fun to see how close we got with this leak! I miss the hype surrounding Alien: Covenant, I can't wait for this kind of hype to begin once again for the new TV series.
e :)
hmmmm
work brain work
I think to go back to the OT....
It seems that DISNEY are NOT interested in the Prequels, we did hear about the Giler/Hill Brandywine Project (ALIEN V) which would have gave us Ripley back and looked like it MAY have RELEGATED some of the Franchise to being DREAMS.
But with the ONLY kind of Concrete Project that was in Works being the FX ALIEN TV SHOW... it seems via the PLOT that this would also be Re-Writing some HISTORY.
I dont think you have to RE-WRITE stuff you can ATTEMPT to FIX it which is like what STAR WARS attempted after The Last Jedi disappointment.
The Star Wars Franchise is Consistent, UNLIKE the Star Trek when we had the REBOOTS... and so i would like to see the ALIEN FRANCHISE do a Star Wars rather than a Star Trek in this Regard....
But a TV Show with the PLOT we have would to me be like doing a Star Trek Reboot...
But this was ALWAYS a Prime Concern with DISNEY... i worried under them we would see the Franchise Rebooted and Retconned... like OVER and OVER...
I dont think the PLOT in Part is Bad.... but i think the Time-Setting would be.... The Discovery of a Crashed Engineer Ship at Sea say between 2200-2300 would be FINE.. as WHO was to say the Engineers had NOT sent a Ship to Earth some Thousands of Years ago that Failed its Mission and ENDED UP at the Bottom of the Ocean.
The ONLY Problem with this would be IF the Cargo is Eggs and we have Xenomorphs then THIS would Conflict what we saw in ALIEN COVENANT... and IF this TV Show is set say between 2040-2080 then it would RAISE the Question a bit about ALIEN....
Giving us something that would NOT be a Xenomorph but would have some Connection would NOT go and please some Fans who would EXPECT that we have to have XENOMORPHS.... and i think Quite a Lot of Fans would LIKE this for the Reason it would TOTALLY mean that David could NOT have Created the Xenomorph.
I STAND BY how i feel the Prequels had Enhanced the Franchise, because with the Engineers Experiments and Bio-Weapon they could have given us a PLOT where in the Year 2220 they either Discover a Crashed Ship at Sea either on EARTH or on a Earth like World they had Discovered and Colonized in the Future.

They could THEN have given us a Alternative Xenomorph, say like ABOVE.... But then a LOT of the Problems could have been Avoided had they shown David Created something similar to ABOVE instead.
I have always said the David as Creator can be FIXED by having the Returning Engineers Discover his Xenomorphs even on Planet 4 and taking them to LV-223 to EVOLVE into what becomes those Eggs on LV-426 so the Engineers play the ROLE of those who Began the Process (LV-223/Black Goo) and then FINISHED the Process (LV-426) and David had merely taken the Engineers Work and Evolved it and the Engineers become Impressed and PERFECT the work of David..
JOB DONE... everyone Happy (well maybe NOT).
But such a PLOT... or if they Choose to REBOOT the Prequel Plot... then what we have is WHEN those Engineers had LOADED UP the Derelict, then WHY was that the ONLY Ship?
So they could have other SHIPS that have left and some of these could have been SUCCESSFUL and others could also have CRASHED....
Even as to END UP at the Bottom of a Sea on Earth or some other World in the Galaxy and THIS... is where they could have taken the TV Series....
I think even IF they Ignore the Prequels so Prometheus had NEVER Happened and so we have the Derelict on LV-426 and another is on Earth... i still think thats a MASSIVE MISTAKE.... IF the TV Show is SET before say 2200.
PS: I will add that the AVP Pred-Alien Concept i modified a LITTLE does look a bit like the Fresco from Prometheus. And so having a Organism like this being Discovered could give some Connection to Prometheus.
A Progenitor to the Deacon, and Xenomorph or just another Alternative Experiment from some other Connected Source?
Even such a PLOT could be used for a AVP Reboot of Sorts, if its indicated the Predator Species with the Black Goo had became what is the Fresco Creature or a Engineer/Fresco Hybrid is what became the Predators ;)
Ummm this post has listed Japanese, Chinese, Mexican, and American actresses, so another post is redundant
KaijuBuildz,
I think the Showa era is without question the best of the series and even at its lowest showcased filmmakers using their talent and resourcefulness to make the stories work. I think the lowest point in the series is the 90s films Heisei series--Where the ideas were wonderful, but the execution included too many characters doing too little and filling in gaps for the monster fights. (Sound familiar?) Sure they tried to be meaningful, unlike GvK, but they were too muddled to be great. I think the Monsterverse already became like that with King of the Monsters and sunk even lower with Godzilla vs. Kong.
Oh good I agree they should stay separate
Pretty sure the kong's didnt enslave titans, they probably just didnt want to mess with any titan unless provoked or attacked
Basically what I wanted to say but better
How was Aaron Taylor Johnson's acting terrible? Granted he didn't have a lot to work with, but to say he didn't execute on exactly what the part demanded is nonsensical. He was even praised for his realistic portrayal of how marines deal with immediate loss by marines and their partners. If anything, his nuance elevated the movie.
I'd rather the Pacific Rim universe and Monsterverse stay separate. Besides, the dates in both universes don't add up.
I hope a third movie is greenlit one of these days, but the anime was quite impressive.
*insert the song about slavery from that one Elf Bowling movie (yes that happened look it up)*
I guess he was just more like a 'stand-in' character
He was dull, and the acting was terrible...
