SasquaDashGodzilla 2014 ForumMUTO...Insect or Reptile?

HinikunaGoji

Flesh and bone and muscles wouldn't immediately classify them as mammals, as birds, reptiles, amphibians, and most fish have those traits as well. That description would mean that they're a Chordate of some sort (one that strangely exhibits insectoid traits).

The main traits of mammals are that they're warm-blooded, most are born alive (with the exception of monotremes), and the young are fed milk produced by the mother's mammary glands, which aren't traits exhibited by the MUTOs.

Guillaume Rocheron was quoted in Godzilla: The Art of Destruction as saying that he "would classify [the MUTOs] as mammals because they have flesh and bone and muscles."

Its in the art book

Yeah I still think they are just really big parasites, the movie even said they are so I have no idea how they could be mammals.

Apparently the idea of them being mammals comes from statements from Gareth Edwards and other people involved with the film, however their statements mentioned that certain attributes of the MUTOs (like their movements) were based on mammals, not that they were mammals. So as of now the MUTOs technically don't have an official classification.

My best guess is that the MUTOs are sort of there own thing, they don't fall in to any known classification and are instead an unknown type of ancient creature that falls in between vertebrates and invertebrates, which is why they share traits from both (such as having an internal skeleton, a possible exoskeleton, and insectoid traits).

I think that the MUTOs would win, they work together well and have cool abilities.

It's more of a giant parasite, or germ, so neither.

Oh, yeah I  didn't know that. I have spent about $90 on it. Also, this game was shut down because Adobe Flash, but Godzilla Daikaiju Battle Royale was really fun.

I was honestly hoping for a new director, but fine. Hopefully Wingard will alter the tone a bit; make it slightly more serious and less goofy.

Also, it's interesting that they're going with the Son of Kong rather than going for the more obvious Son of Godzilla route (though, technically Kong had a "son" first). It makes sense considering that they've established Kong being lonely, Kong caring for Jia and viewing her as a family member, and the fact that they heavily hinted at the idea of there being other kongs in the Hollow Earth. Plus I can't really see the MonsterVerse Godzilla being a dad...

Just because Godzilla won't be in this particular film doesn't mean that he won't show up in any future MonsterVerse movies.

This is honestly better than what i would have predicted before.

This is making way too much sense. Legendary puts Godzilla on TV, to not conflict with Yamazaki's rumored Godzilla film. Meanwhile the Monsterverse film series continues, ala, Kong, which is a more proven and lucrative property for them anyway.

It was never literally going to be Godzilla vs. Kong 2.

Hello. Yes but maybe it’s best to keep things quiet or am I just extra cautious? I remember there being a letter “N” in the word cemetery. Just saw this movie about time travel and parallel universes so it does seem like a more tangible subject, however, whomever is doing this probably doesn’t want us to know.

Thoughts_DreamsAlien: Romulus 2 NewsNew Aliens novel will explore Vasquez character backstory!

At least it's not a continuation of the Vasquez character, which is a good thing. It shouldn't be related to any that came before. Maybe they could use new ones and if those are successful they can use them to branch off into something else? Let's say that they introduce character X into this story, if enough people find X to be interesting, they can use that as a main character for another story? Having said this, I would rather have a story that isn't related to what came before, other than maybe having X-morphs or the Engineers in it. Use as little of what came before as possible, while try to expand the universe.

"Raised by Jenette's sister, those children, Leticia and Ramon, had to discover their own ways to survive. Leticia by following her mother's path into the military, Ramon by entering the corporate hierarchy of Weyland-Yutani. Their paths converge on an unnamed planet which some see as a potential utopia,"

Reading into that IF the STORY will Focus on her Daughters and the Events say Happen as Vasquez is OFF to LV-426 or AFTER (Her Daughters do-not know their Mothers Fate).

Then it SHOULD NOT go and Conflict the Franchise much.....  so i JUMPED THE GUN with this one, by Assuming it would Follow a Younger Vasquez who has Dealt with Xenomorphs prior to LV-426 in 2179.

Which THANKFULLY sees to NOT be the Case ;)

Yep, the SkullCrawlers were based on this "little guy".

Interestingly, in the scene that it was was briefly shown in featured it crawling out of a pit, similar to the SkullCrawlers.

Yeah I especially like the Mutos and Skull Crawlers. They both make up for lack of strength with numbers. I also like that they are a species, not the typical only one or last of their kind. We really need to see more of these original monsters.

I like the MUTOs, I feel like the fandom doesn't give them enough love mainly because they aren't as iconic or cool as some of Godzilla's classic enemies and because they have some similarities to the Cloverfield monster (although aside from the arms the designs are pretty different), but I feel like they're unique enough that they should get more attention.

I like the SkullCrawlers mainly because they're a reference to the two-legged lizard that briefly showed up in the original 1933 King Kong. The fact that they took such an obscure creature that only showed up in the original film for a couple seconds and made it the main enemy for Kong is kind of hilarious.

And I like Behemoth, mainly because I've had a lifelong obsession with prehistoric animals and I love mammoths, so for me seeing a monster that's a mix between a mammoth and a giant ground sloth was really cool.

Mine is easily the Mutos, specifically the male Muto. He might be small, but is strong, smart, and can fly. The Muto roars are amazing, and the way they worked together in the 2014 film was cool.

I just reread the the synopsis, the book will focus on Genette Vasquez's backstory prior to ALIENS but its just a platform for the novel's real protagonist Leticia Vasquez and Ramon Vasquez.
