I'm a Korean fan of Alien franchise and especially Ridley Scott. So I was extremely happy to watch Alien: Covenant in advance of other countries! Since the opening day May 9, I enjoyed it 25 times in theater, and no matter what people say or how many people watch, it became my favorite movie.
I don't know exactly why I am stuck by Covenant. But I think that there are two reasons.
First, Covenant is really sexual movie for me.
It made me very nervous, scared and literally exited. Sex and Fear have something in common. The reaction of these different sensations is the same, no? I don't think all horror movies are sexual. Many of them just make me sick and uncomfortable, yet Ridley Scott is totally different. I couldn't blink my eyes at the man who educated flute to Walter.
Second, Covenant confuses me.
When I watched Prometheus for the first time, I was disappointed a little, because I expected something like 1979 Alien. Prometheus was too meditative for me. There were many questions not cleared up. So, actually I was afraid I would be disappointed. What a stupid concern!
Before watching Covenant, I was curious about what David did, how is connected to 1979 Alien, etc. While watching it, I was wondering where Xenomorph did come from. All the people is discussing about significance and metaphors of Covenant, and playing Cassandra about the sequel.
I also like finding out meaning of all scenes in Covenant. But the more I watch it, the more I wonder it. Every scenes and lines make me feel a little different. I believe it's thanks to all works of all the crew of the movie.
The most shocking for me is the birth of the first Xenomorph.
Xenomorph, as we all know, the name means that it is out of our world. Yet, it became from us; human beings. That's the point what I love it. Because of the altarpiece in the spaceship of engineer of Prometheus, now I'm so confused that I imagine that engineer would be created by something like Xenomorph. It seems to me that the chain of creator and creation is twisted.
Well, whatever?
I love so much Alien: Covenant. I'd like to give 50 stars to this lovely movie.
I believe that there's no need to add more praise for Michael Fassbender. I just collecting all his films and magazines. XD
