Up until the boat crash in the 2nd movie, when T rex gets loose, I like the 2nd movie. Assuming the boat crash didn't happen, and the T Rex (alone) didn't ravage the public streets, how could the movie been different? What are alternate plots from this points that people think of?

I have never thought of that. Imagine, if The Lost World: Jurassic Park left on a cliffhanger ending with the ship containing the Tyrannosaur headed for the mainland and perhaps plans by InGen to recapture the remaining species and bring them back too. That would have set the third film up to a much more important and relevant story, well, an InGen centered story. The mainland park could have been successful for some years and a resort could have been set up with the general public staying there, families, businessmen and women, all people really. Seeing the attractions, the rides, the dinosaurs! All happily for sometime until something inevitably occurs to disrupt this balance, this success. An earthquake perhaps, the San Andreas fault ruptures causing a quake, it would only have to devastate power, disrupt service roads and maintenance, enough to trap people and release dinosaurs. All kinds of dinosaurs and force them into unrestrained contact with humans once again. Chaos theory in action, I do enjoy this foundational premise you have developed. It offers so many possibilities for story telling. What do you have in mind?

I simply feel that the one scenario, which goes until the end of the movie, from when T rex running rampant and ends being captured safely in the end, with the movie ending there is far too obvious, and renders the rest of the movie too predictibe. I think there should be another new plot thread from there. As a starting example perhaps, how the T rex boat pilot's arm was ripped off, in the absence of any other dinosaurs, when the T rex head would not fit inside the steering cabin (and the cabin is intact) aught have been left out or elaborated on. I feel the movie needs a new thematic plot thread in it's place. The idea of an INGEN related sequence could be interesting. The amphitheatre on the mainland idea feels too boring myself.

The ending of that story is completely f***ing retarded. How in the hell did a f***ing male T Rex escape its pen, eat all the crew and go back in and shut the pen doors. And people will argue with me stating that "oh it was raptors or other carnivores that actually ate the crew", well if so why on earth would the screen writers be stupid enough to omit that information as well as the change to include Raptors and T Rex action on the mainland. Hell they could have angled the T Rex getting loose as a means to hunt down the Raptors and kill them.

Here's my theory of what could have happened. The boat doesn't crash, Ludlow makes a fortune in exploiting innocent dinosaurs and Ingen makes a profit out of Ludlow's success. Oh, if your wondering how the crew of the boat died, it could have either been the baby T-rex or a pack of raptors could have stowed away on the ship before then accidently being eaten themselves by the adult Rex.

@Geeker The baby T.Rex was captured and it was also brought to the mainland. The baby Rex was what the people (I forget who, I think the scientist women, Malcolm's daughter, and maybe Malcolm) used to bait the T.Rex back to the boat. At the end of the movie, remember the scene where it showed the different dinosaurs on the island, it showed the two parents standing with the baby walking between them? The movie was not really believable after the boat crash, but I was small when I saw the movie and never thought about it (I was 6, found a Jurassic Park tape, and wanted to watch it).

I think there is still an unseen back story even with the boat crash because, if you read the first book, raptors stowed away on ships, and I think that's what happened to the crew. The raptors could have been eaten as Geeker said, but where's the fun in that? As for the T-rex baby eating the crew, that would be illogical. First off, Baby Tyrannosaurus-Rexes relied on their parents for food, as per the second novel in the series, the one this film was based on. Second off, the baby was in the cargo shaft hobbling around on its broken leg when (I forget his name, but he's the new owner of InGen) came in to retrieve it. And thirdly, how would a baby Tyrannosaurus eat that much? I was a REALLY big boat and had to have at least fifteen crewmen on board, that's probably a fair sized snack to a full grown one. A good sized snack would also be about four to five infants (at that stage of infancy) probably more.

I think that the end should have been an action-adventure ending, just not the one they gave. I mean, although it is fun to imagine, it kinda stunk. And just for the record, a female rex is bigger than a male, so why the heck would you put a male tyrannosaur on the mainland. I think the ending should have been something like this: They were still on the island, and had no way to get home. They then stole supplies from inGen, and got plenty of food to survive for a while. But during the night, it is stolen by raptors. The leader gets ticked and goes to hunt them down, but just then, a rescue chopper arrives and rescues them, just as they're taking off, you see a large set of teeth and a giant back appears from the trees. originally spielburg didnt even have the san Fran cisco incident in the script but he made that last addition to the script in the middle of filming
