MemberBaragonFeb-21-2021 7:05 PMJapan is going through a population crises where the majority population is aging and not enough children are being born. I would like to see a Japanese Godzilla film that address this issue similar to how Shin Godzilla addressed the overwhelming bureaucracy in the Japanese government and increasing Japanese nationalism.

MemberBaragonFeb-21-2021 8:31 PMOn the topic of Shin Godzilla, one thing I noticed is that party rivalry in the government seemed lacking. I don’t know if this issue story reasons or because the Japanese are more pragmatic than us Americans.

MemberGiganFeb-22-2021 9:27 AMI don’t think that was the purpose of the movie. While the movie was a satire, In the third act it was also patriotic at the same time. The problem with film is that when it portrays the government it typically portrays one political party as good, or the other as evil. These portrayals are very biased and divisive, so for a movie trying to share a message with everyone it is not smart to do that. I also noticed that the movie was more about Japan’s relationship with the United States and it gaining more independence, not the government fighting itself.

MemberBaragonFeb-22-2021 9:36 AMSarcasticgoji what do you think of my proposition that the next film be about the population crisis?

MemberGiganFeb-22-2021 9:40 AMIt sounds like a good message, but I think that for it to work that Godzilla himself would not represent the overpopulation. I think that maybe there could be strange phenomena where people start merge into a monster that Godzilla fights. But that’s kind of weird.

MemberBaragonFeb-22-2021 9:44 AMI was thinking something along the lines of Godzilla attacks, and the government struggles to evacuate it’s citizens because of the large amount of elderly.

MemberGiganFeb-22-2021 9:49 AMYeah but that concept can only take you so far, what would happen for the rest of the movie.
Does Insurance cover Godzilla?

MemberBaragonFeb-22-2021 9:53 AMI’m not sure, I think that would be a question for the script writers.

MemberBaragonFeb-22-2021 9:56 AMYou could make the rest of the movie about the youth being left behind to fend for themselves maybe? Like how so many men died on the titanic cause the women and children came first?

MemberGiganFeb-22-2021 10:47 AMWhat I want is Shin Godzilla vs Legendary Godzilla like how Millennium Godzilla fought '98 Godzilla.

AdminGodzillaFeb-22-2021 10:51 AMThere's a lot of ways to go with this without being transparent--Radiation could play a factor in decreased birthrates, thus where ever Godzilla has attacked those specific areas could be affected. It could be a situation where the elderly are the only ones left to stand up against Godzilla and other countries are unwilling to help. (Which is true. No other countries are concerned about Japan's population issue.) There could be a systematic reduction of the population based on each attack from Godzilla...
The possibilities are endless from a screenwriter's perspective, but it won't work if the story and vision isn't there.

MemberGiganFeb-22-2021 12:08 PMHow about an apocalyptical scenario where all that is left of japan (or the world) are the very few young people because all of japan (or the world) was wiped out by either Godzilla or similar caliber kaiju?

MemberBaragonMar-01-2021 8:30 PMI agree,it would be interesting if since there arent much people dying the government would have a sluggish response to godzilla
