Zilla V.S. Rodan Chapter 3: The Plan

“In the next 30 minutes we will begin Operation Tracey. I know this is incredibly short notice, but we have to act fast. The basic idea will be to lure the creature back out to sea, so that it’ll go back to the Hollow Earth, or at least buy us some time to work out a better plan and see what it can do and buy some time for evacuation efforts. Firstly, we will bait it with the S.S.E. (Specialized Scent Emitter) by producing a strong odor of rotting fish and other marine creatures. The titan is likely to follow the scent in hopes of scavenging it. The S.S.E. will be activated on the coast, and from there Allo Squad will airlift it out of there and head towards the ocean. The creature is known to be incredibly fast, at least as fast as some of the faster flying titans we know of. We won’t have much time, so every second counts. Once the creature is far enough out at sea, the Blackbirds, Greenbacks, and Bloodgills will open fire on the creature with heavy artillery. Hopefully that will be enough to deter it. Blackbirds and Greenbacks are going to be heading the miniguns, and the Bloodgills will be using missiles. Now, we want the creature to be at least precisely 1.5 miles off the coast of Manhattan, or else it can come back and…” Suddenly Madelyn hears a quiet whisper nearby, “Sarge, are ya sure you’re feelin’ up to this?” “Mendoza! For Christ’s sake! I’m fine! Don’t interrupt the Commander!” “Sorry Sarge…” Vicky trails off and shuts up. Madelyn turns her attention back to her commander. “Any questions?” One hand goes up. “Mendoza?” “Yeah… could you say the part where you said the things?” The entire audience groans. “Mendoza! How many times are you going to doze off while I’m speaking!” One of the Greenbacks says, “Besides, that meme is dead… and you misquoted it…” 

Madelyn operates the machine gun in the helicopter she was stationed at. The pilot of the helicopter is one of the most valued members of her squad, Ryan Senat. The reason he’s so valued? He’s the only person in the squad who can actually pilot a helicopter or jet… “Sarge? Are you sure you-” “I’m fine man, just get ready to lift off at the first sign of-” As if on cue, they hear a loud, shrill roar coming from the deepest depths of New York. “Go go go GO GO GO GO!!!!” “GOING I SHALL!!!!!!” The helicopter’s blades begin to spin as Ryan tries to get the helicopter to take off. The other helicopters are already halfway up in the air. As the helicopter begins to rise, Madelyn can already hear the footsteps of the titanic creature. Finally, the helicopter is airborne and they start following the S.S.E. The creature’s footsteps are getting louder and louder at an alarming pace. “Sarge! I don’t think that we’ll have time to get far enough away from the city!” “Quit your yammering private! We have to go as far as we can!” The helicopters slowly make their way from the shore. They aren’t even a half mile from shore before the Kaiju comes out onto the beach and jumps into the water. The helicopters make their way over the ocean, but the creature is catching up fast. A mile in, and the creature leaps out of the water and catches the S.S.E. in the air. It dives back into the water with the S.S.E. in its mouth. However, the helicopter that was carrying is being dragged with the creature as well, due to it still being connected to the S.S.E. “MAYDAY MAYDAY MAYDAY!!!!!” The soldiers on board try their best to unlock the straps, but any who try get flung overboard, dropping from the water at an immense height. Within a matter of seconds, the helicopter is dragged underneath the wave, as well as all the unfortunate souls on board. Within moments, the creature leaps up again to try and catch another helicopter, but barely misses and falls into the water. “Commander Olsen! Orders!” “Abort the mission! Abort! Abort!” The squads all start flying off, but as they start to fly off, Madelyn says, “private, wait a moment.” “Sarge?” “I said wait a moment.” Madelyn adjusts the helicopter’s machine gun towards the giant creature. “Sarge, I know what you’re doing. Don’t do it, our commander gaves us an order to abort.” “It just killed half the Allo Squad and you want me to NOT shoot at it?” “I know that that’s not why you want to kill it. I’m not an idiot, ma’m.” “And? I’m still going to kill it.” “Sargeant Enden, we both know that this won’t work. What’s a machine gun going to do to that thing? Especially without the other squads’ help! All you’re going to do is piss off that thing and get us all killed!” Madelyn stays silent, contemplating that. She knew beforehand that would happen beforehand… but not until she heard it said back to her that she realized how stupid her plan was. “Fine, take us back to base.” “Yes ma’m!” With that, Madelyn reluctantly rides back to headquarters. However, as she stares back out at sea, she sees a familiar double row of spikes heading straight for Manhattan…
