*SPOILERS* Star Wars: The Last Jedi Discussion *SPOILERS*

I don't think it's fair to compare them as they're almost the opposites in all categories. Anakin had a great story with horrible acting and dialogue(mostly) whereas Ben has an awful story but much better acting and dialogue.

The things comes down to which you want more of since neither has both.

I don't see how Hayden's acting is any worse than Adam Driver's to be honest. Hayden had to act out a man who has been a Jedi his whole life, a religion of people who do all in their power to NOT feel emotion, that was married, about to have kids, and was seeing visions of his pregnant wife dying--all while being prevented from becoming a Master by the people he has known his whole life, and the pressure of being this supposed Chosen One. Hayden even showed great emotion when he finally suc***bed to the Dark side, the delivery of, "I hate you" was really solid. I think this bashing on this actor has really gone too far, he really wasn't that bad.

Hayden has decent parts, but onscreen for a romance he was willing to burn the galaxy for there was very little chemistry, and his ability to deliver some of those lines was lacking what he needed. As I said the story aspects behind Anakin are great, the jedi and their portrayal are great, as well meaning but faulted. As I said Anakin has a great story if you listed his story next to Ben's almost everyone would probably say that it's more interesting, it's just that his acting and dialogue is where the character falls.

Rey said that she wanted someone to show her her place in the galaxy, so Ren tried to do that by persuading her to join him.

That doesn't change the childish dialogue though.

^One bad line from Ren? Let's see how many bad lines I can quote from Anakin Skywalker.

"I'm a person, and my name is Anakin!"

"I don't like sand...it's coarse...rough...irritating...and it gets everywhere."

"I killed them all, not just the men, but the women and the children too. They're like animals, I slaughtered them like animals! I HATE THEM!"

"NNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1!1!1!11111111111111111!!!!"

"I'm a person, and my name is Anakin!" He's a child. Imagine Ben SWOLO as a child.

"NNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1!1!1!11111111111111111!!!!"

 Don't think Anakin ever yelled out no, if you mean Vader in Revenge of the Sith then, even though this is cheesy--what would you do if you found out you basically killed your pregnant wife and destroyed your entire Order which was basically your family, and have been horribly mutilated and need a respirator all because this hideous man devoted to pure Evil manipulated you on the grounds he could help you save your pregnant wife (of whom you've been having nightmares above dying in childbirth) from dying.

^The line about the Tusken Raiders makes Skywalker come off as whiny.

Not really seeing how it comes off as whiny, a teenager suffering through a tragedy is the better definition. There seems to be a lot of misunderstanding when it comes to just how much Anakin went through.

TBH I do think the sequel trilogy has better dialogue and acting for the most part to the prequels.

Of course rather than just focusing on 1, or in this case 3-4 lines of dialogue in what comes up to over 6 hours of film in each trilogy, I look at the whole picture, including story and character arcs, and this movie fails in a way the prequels never managed. I'm not sure why this became which movie had the worst line, rather than what worked with the universe, characters and fanbase that these movies are based around.

Bad acting is still bad acting. Anakin also said, "It's good to see you, Jar Jar."

But your argument is "well the prequels..." rather than talking about what TLJ did which isn't really the point of the thread, especially when the points you raise don't really have much to do with anything except pointing out a few lines that are widely viewed as the worst from the prequel trilogy. What does that have to do with TLJ's dialogue, or story? 

Time to address the complaints.

"Snoke was killed off without revealing his backstory."

Yeah, well so was Sidious.

"Luke projecting himself to fight Kylo was stipid."

How else was he gonna face him? It's not like he had a way of getting off Ach-To.

"Rey is a nobody."

For me this re-mystified the Force after the Midichlorian bull****. Finally a particularly powerful Force-user outside of Sidious and Yoda who's not related to Anakin.

TBH I don't think any of those reasons were very good defenses for those.

Sidious was given no backstory, because we had not explored that era of the universe at that time. Snoke we have, so he doesn't get the same pass for the 3rd trilogy as the first

They show his X wing on Ahch-To so besides using that or flying with Rey, either way he could have made it on time since he spent maybe an hour after she left trying to burn down the tree, he could have showed up when he did by flying.

How did Midichlorians unmystify the force? They aren't the force they're how living things communicate with it. And every force user outside of 1 hasn't been related to Anakin so not like it came off as inclusive.

People don't seem to understand MIDICHLORIANS are NOT the FORCE. As Durp said, they are what allow our body to communicate with the Force.

The people that complain about midichlorians, but not this balance aspect in these new movies are people that make me question the fanbase. 

^Nobody complained about Sidious' lack of backstory when RotJ came out.

Because Sidious wasn't introduced after we had a trilogy with the good guys winning. The comparison you're trying to make isn't comparable.

I'm just still trying to wonder, how you Tyrant, and back Last Jedi but crumb on the prequels. When even the fans have spoken, and they deem it lower than any of the prequels, you know.

Well here are my thoughts on TLJ:

I don't like the Canto Bight subplot, and Rose's character was annoying.

There were no Knights of Ren, and Super Leia was dumb.

Poe got no consequences for nearly destroying the entire Resistance fleet.

I do like the cinematography, and character development, and I thought Luke's arc was satisfying.

Rey was made a deeper character, and Kylo Ren is now one of the most interesting SW villains.

I thought the story was pretty solid, but weak at points.

(Because comments are clipping I have to arrange this weird)

How was Luke's arc which destroyed his ambitious optimistic personality entirely from the OT,

and equally disgraced one of Yoda's last words, "Pass on what you've have learned"

by making it that Luke trained no one and died not having really trained anybody to the rank of master

Is that really a satisfying character arc?

Just cause his death was done okay doesn't mean everything done to slander the character is made peachy.

A man who refused to kill his dark father was the quickest being in the galaxy to attempt to kill his own nephew,

from his own sister Leia who he loved!

How is destroying the character in the most BS way possible a satisfying character arc?

And I could refute both points about Rey and Kylo being made deeper with ease because they weren't!

The only difference from Rey in TFA to TLJ is that we now know her parents are nobodies.

This gives no explanation for how she is a god of the Force;

and even she doesn't care that much as by the end she's already moved on!

And Kylo does nothing, destroying his mask and proclaiming that we all must, "kill the past"

It doesn't equal character development--it's just a half-assed attempt to reinvent Star Wars that failed.

^Luke only considered killing Ben FOR A MOMENT. He instantly regretted it,

and he's always been a flawed but good person at heart.

Rey was made more relatable because not everybody is of a legendary bloodline.

Kylo Ren killed Snoke, something Vader never did, so I don't see how he does nothing.

1. Dude, he ignited the Lightsaber and then kept it ignited lol.

None of that changes the fact that he considered killing his own Nephew!

This is a man who refused to kill Darth Vader even when both of his masters said to!!

2. I actually don't see how Luke has ever been a character flawed in personality.

He's always been displayed as clinging to the light side, the antithesis of his father.

Even when he found out Vader was his dad, he stayed on the light--he was a true Jedi.

3. People in Star Wars are of legendary bloodlines or are trained heavily to be that powerful.

You don't change something as iconic to the series like that on a dime for no reason.

And there are many characters in Star Wars who are not of legendary bloodlines.

Rey is not the first; Obi-Wan, Yoda, everyone except Luke and Leia almost don't have known parents.

But the difference with them is that they trained for their power! Not just acquired it.

4. I don't understand really your point here, Vader never had a chance to kill Snoke.

He killed someone far more powerful--Darth Sidious himself.

Kylo never could've done to Snoke what Vader did to Sidious. Kylo cheated Snoke.

And then cheated him just to go back to being the exact same character, with a new title.

^Luke gave into his rage when Vader threatened to turn Leia to the Dark Side.

Snoke said that Rey was gifted power in the Force to counterbalance the darkness of Kylo Ren.

In the new Vader comics, if he had kept the list of children for himself,

he could've trained an apprentice to help him overthrow Sidious.

And while he did kill him, he did so at the cost of his life.

That was the one time in the entire trilogy and he did it completely justly.

And even at that moment he resisted, and turned away from the dark.

2. Yeah, this is something that has never been a part of Star Wars.

    The Force creates Chosen Ones, who even then need training.

      It doesn't make gods of the Force just like that.

The Last Jedi was simply superb.

It had all the elements that made it really laugh-worthy.

Respect those who feel it's not good.
