Hey all..

So I just finished listening to the Director's Commentary on the film. Not really a whole lot of anything interesting, but during the scene where Daniels crushes the Alien in the crane, Scott in the commentary goes onto say and I am paraphrasing here, "Oh he gets crushed, broken apart and falls to the ground, his DNA will allow him to regrow."

I thought this was interesting to the species...according to Scott the Alien can regrow limbs and parts, kind of like a lizard regwoing its tail. I guess the DNA in the Alien can grow to form a new alien. This is what I am getting from Scott said during the Audio Commentary. It seems like Scott is re-writing some aspects of the Alien.

Yes!! This confirms my theory  XD :P

I was having a hard time finding a way in which a xeno and Walter could have come into contact.

On a serious note, it may just be RS "changing his mind" on some aspects of the alien.

it reminds how the Alien loses its arm in the novel  during the airlock part

Well they do kind of have a habit of changing things or making comments that contradict or pose problems to what we have been shown.

We need to remember Originally RS had envisioned the Xenomorph as being able to Regenerate, this was something they wanted to explore in Alien. There are a number of ideas regarding the Organism that RS had, includes ideas he maybe shared with some of the Production Staff while working on Alien.

That RS never got to explore because he was no part of any of the sequels.... so it appears RS may introduce some of these ideas as he explores his own Prequel Series.

We saw the Hammerpede was able to Re-grow its head, which i put down to the Black Goo simply Evolving a Trait associated with some kinds of WORM but if RS chooses to explore the Xenomorph as being able to Regenerate, then it could be this Trait is part of the Black Goo and not from the Worms found on LV-223.

However, we do not know where those Worms come from and so they could still be explored as part of the key... but i think this is not likely now.

A lot depends now if they explore the route that most Black Goo infected life can Regenerate... or if this is a Trait that David has implanted onto only the Xenomorphs via various experiments.

I never thought about it, but it would seem almost obvious that the Alien would be able to regrow limbs.  The pathogen works quick to deconstruct/reconstruct genetic material.  In a way, that should also allo wit to regenerate the destroyed material if it really is the perfect organism.

Could i also state that they made a big deal out of how Walter can regenerate himself. Perhaps part of this reason, aside from the obvious story is to plant a seed ready for A:A.

I thought it was a little overdone. Maybe a half second too long on the scene. Just tiny detail led me to believe.

I am convinced that there is more to Walter story and if this Xeno does regenerate then that leaves a Xeno and Walter on a Planet. This opens up the potential story and keeps Walter in the arc.

The question now is: Did David do this? He has some regen. capabilities and was upgrading the Xeno. Perhaps he had this knowledge.

OR This has always been the case. Which i could not say i cant remember all the films and if there was any opportunity to see such action.

This is where RS messes with the franchise without thinking outside his movies. AND Fox letting him !! if i was exec, RS works for us. RS sorry u cant comment on the mythos at all. u going a bit senile sorry ;)only prepared questions given in advance of interview. tell them reporters to FRO. job done wheres me cheque ?

Indeed the Regeneration would be at odds with Camerons Xenomorphs and Alien Resurrection as far as those Xenomorphs not being able to Regenerate.

Alien 3 is excused as i think the death the Runner suffered would be something Regeneration would not be able to fix... unless the Xenomorphs are like the T-1000 in Terminator LOL

The OT is suggesting RS mentioned in the commentary for AC that the ability to regrow would be after the Xenomorph was servery crushed, and so surely if this was the case indeed it would go against what we see in Aliens and Alien R

But maybe RS means a twist on Regrow? i had pondered a few times on here, regarding a Perfect Organism and the so called limited Life-Span of the Xenomorph and then the Egg Morph, if that what when the Xenomorph reaches the end of its Cycle it dies and breaks down and then rebuilds from its material into a Egg?

I brought the same up when talking about the Neomorph when someone proposed what if more Spores Grew from the Dead Neomorph, when i then mentioned i had a similar thought regarding the Xenomorphs a while back.

Who knows what RS is on about now, is it that a dead Xenomorph can just recompile its Genetic Code to Re-build itself and how long would this take?

While this goes against Aliens etc... we cant rule out Ridley Scott maybe attempting to Re-boot a new set of sequels as Alternative Alien Sequels instead?

We did see Rapid Regeneration by the Hammepedes as again though i put this down to the Black Goo Evolving the Worms maybe limited Regeneration ability.

Also Ripley 8 did Regenerate too in Alien Resurrection.

The Source i had claimed the Xeno Origins are Tiny Parasitic like worm-like Organisms related to Echinoderms and indeed these Organisms a number of them can Truly Regenerate.

Anyone who has played the Dead Space games will know how terrifying a regenerating monster is....

The re generators were indeed scary. The regenerator from RE 4 was creepy too.

ohh yes forgot about them. Regenerating monster make for some very intense, suspenseful and genuinely terrifying antagonists. They just keep coming back, you are never safe!!

Perhaps a truly regenerating Xeno boss could be awesome in Awakening.

this may have a connection to the regenerative abilities of walter and the mechanical looking nature of the original xeno. in the novel, he grows his arm back. yet im unsure of what in the novel qualifies as canon as RS hasn't said to say that the novel is canon except the bits that wernt in the movie or vice versa

When you watch the Scene when the xeno gets crushed you see that the only things that Get crushed are it's  legs and an arm, the head and torso are still attached.

Interesting since the hammerpede regenerated in Prometheus. In AC, it looked as though the neomorphs might be able to generate as they looked like bullet sponges early on. Eventually the big one stayed down after Oram shot it several times.
