I'm such a nerd, I watched Alien Covenant for the third time at June 28. The movie theater was empty for a while except for me but then some people arrived a bit later. As far as I know there were nine persons there watching it but I think that one or two left after a while so that made it seven.

The Alien connections were more interesting than the Prometheus parts honestly.

I still have a problem that they didn’t wear protective gear at an unknown planet. Sure it had vegetation and that but why risk it? You should scan the planet for possible viruses or at least use protective gear. My complaint is still valid why the spores didn’t infect everybody. The spores in themselves was a good idea, it was nasty.

Daniels was alright even though she was too little developed as a character. She was better than Shaw but Ripley is still number one. I hope that we'll see more of her in the next movie and as a more developed character. They seriously need to work on that but she wasn’t bad.

Danny MacBride was an interesting character although they could have made his personality more developed. What was his personality? What was his background? Why did he join the Covenant mission? What did he hope to achieve by going there?

The captain was interesting (Oram) I like how he was religious but not a fanatic about it. He seemed more like an everyday person that wasn’t in your face with his beliefs. Since he spent some time with David and we saw their interaction we learned a bit about how he was as a person, that was nice.

The mouth burster was cool, that was new. They did a good job with the Neomorph, it seemed to be faster and deadlier than the Xeno. Hopefully we'll see more of the Neos in the next movie, that would be cool.

David arrived and took them to his house or what ever to call it. There lie bodies that look like grilled chicken and nobody says a word? I don’t get it. At least someone could have said something or at least reacted somehow.

Walter and David were interesting and to see their differences. Their discussions about creation and androids versus humans was alright even though I'm not very interested in seeing Alien turning into android movie. One other thing that their discussion about creation was that it dragged on for too long. Keep David but focus less on AI for the next movie. Yes each Alien movie has had AI but it was given a too big of a role here, that was kind of disappointing.

Ledward puking blood was nasty, that and also the mouth burster were the grossest scenes in the movie.

The Engineer flashback was good, when David bombed them with the goo. As far as the Engineers go I would like to know a little more about them, but they shouldn’t have as big role as they had in Prometheus at the same time they were given a too small of a role in AC. Somewhere in between could be alright although I would prefer the time they got in AC compared to Prometheus if I must choose between them.

It was good that they didn’t show Rosenthal's death, that made it more effective. You could use your imagination. They should have done this more often because we saw most of the deaths oh yeah we didn’t really see the shower death scene either.

David’s lair was cool but I would like to know more about what Oram meant when he said that he had seen the devil. That should have been better explained in the movie. Unfortunately, that was too vague, I would like to know more about that comment.

Shaw was dead, ha ha.

When David answered creation to what he believed in, it showed some sort of fanaticism in him but the answer was still lame. They could have written that answer in a better way, at least let him explain it a little bit in that sentence.

I still hope that David re-created the Xeno, not that he made the original. They should have been more exact with that even though some ambiguity can be good sometimes.

The David Walter switch at the end was still not too surprising. Maybe they could have done it in a better way.

Hopefully we will get a sequel to AC, that would be nice. Please develop Daniels and MacBride as characters, that is needed. Keep it closer to the Xeno since that is what started it.

Alien Covenant gets a 3 out of five, compared to Prometheus that gets 2 out of 5 so it is an improvement without a doubt.

Is better movie than Prometheus in my opinion. Backburster scene is amazing and ship enviroment and design much better.

I don't think any other Alien movie had so many walk outs like Covenant. And all those people are not coming back for a sequel.

Lots here I disagree with but this one stands out. Why would it be surprising in the first place? It was basically telegraphed 100% what happened but with out showing it left it only slightly an obvious action. The question was when they would reveal it to the other characters. That's like being upset about dramatic irony, the audience knows more than the characters and the reveal is not for you but the characters. Just like the Facehugger scene.

The mouth burster was so gross, I loved it but was very disturbed by it, same with the back burster. Those scenes freaked me out way more than the original chestbursting scene in Alien did. I saw the David /Walter switch coming a mile away too, as soon as David started cutting his hair I was like "ah, ok that old chesnut"...

If they cut some of the BladeRunner Weylen nonsense they could have truly scared us in the wheat field or shower scene being longer. The suspense never had a chance because we had to have David who hates humans yet spends all his time talking poetry and flute playing of famous composers? That makes zero sense, right? Humans suck but their art and poetry is great=stupid. David even tells Walter he could die happy if he made great poetry yet all humanity must die, what! My favorite quote is Daniels saying "none of this makes sense". After they just walk through the most mind blowing discovery ever in human existence(engineer city) and they are all like , what the freek is all these corpses and then ignore it. Joylitt, I think Ridley and his monkey(editor) purposely made this film to make many upset and I adore Prometheus!

It was a colony ship that undoubtedly has many advanced sensors for detecting hazardous chemicals, viruses etc., as well as confirming breathability. Also, it's the future. So they wouldn't need helmets. The one type of protection they did carry was guns - who knows what local wildlife you might run into.

The spores drift as a cloud, but aggregate into a clump when a victim is identified. That's why not everyone got infected.

They had more things to worry about than Pompeii-lookalikes when they entered David's necropolis. Like, for example, what had just happened to them, and were they safe. Oram did ask David to get down to nuts and bolts later in the movie.

Oram was talking about his experience of child abuse when he mentioned the Devil.

There wasn't enough time in the movie to do loads of character history development. But there was enough, in my opinion. When you've seen it several times and see Danny's photo of the crew near the end, you can go through each character and see that they have their own traits.

I also watched the movie three times so far. Well, I must say that there was no improvement in my perception of the picture in general. On the other hand, Prometheus has really grown on me with every new encounter. When I now compare the two - there are several things definitely in the favour of Prometheus. Prometheus was much wider, more expensive and with better cast. But the crucial difference actually is the fact that Prometheus is much more sci-fi, while Alien: Covenant is simply more horror. If I am to choose between the two now - I am so much more into sci-fi, although I like some horror st

...some horror stuff. In general I am really not so much interested anymore in different aspects of "bursting" :-)

Saw the film twice , after first viewing was disgusted with the lazy bladerunner like storyline coupled with how Shaw was erased . Bladerunner btw may be the single most overated movie in history .

On second viewing , Covenat was better but still less than Prometheus ,  I have no interest in the tired machine hates man storyline .

Will only pay to see David erased in a sequel .

Capt Torgo:

I would have preferred if they would have fleshed out the persons more and toned down the AI part but since most of the human characters were under-developed they needed the Walter and David part. The wheat field scene and the shower scene could have been better if they would have concentrated more on making better characters.

As far as the shower scene it lasted too short. One improvement would be if they dragged it out a bit and that it would be like some slow torture thing, that would have been nasty. If I would have got anything to do with something of that AC movie that is what I would have changed (among other things).

The art thing with Walter, I took that as David telling Walter that “we can surpass humans at their own game”, I thought that was kind of interesting. If you look at it in that way it kind of makes some sense so this is the reason why I don’t have a problem with it. Unfortunately, the scene was too slow but I sort of like the content of it so I am a bit divided about that scene if that makes sense. Another thing that I didn’t like is that it had some sort of a gay vibe to it now I don’t dislike homosexuals but for robots to be able to do that (have the scene being like that) it makes no sense. How can a robot have any sexuality? It is not biological what so ever.

Yes I agree with the Engineer city and the corpses. No one seemed to wonder “what the hell is up with this?”. I disagree with you about Prometheus compared to AC, I think that AC is better but if that is your opinion then I am fine with that.

Hox: I understand what you mean but I think that they should have explained that in a better way. Let him explain what he means. The comment about the photo doesn’t make sense to me, they should have explained that better in the movie instead of just having some photo there because that would have made more sense.

I thought this was obvious. That is the entire point, heck the point the core of sci fi in general. Showing what isn't as what could be. Do you watch action movies and say "How can they kill so many people and not get shot. It's physically impossible." or "That sports team can't win they are the underdogs."

Better yet why draw the line at something so specific on a fictional robot in the first place? Shouldn't you be saying "There can't be robots at all."

That is the entire point, pushing the boundaries of what is possible.

One thing that surprised me, was just how bad the CGI Was for the first neomorph.

It seemed like a really bad B movie.

Same with the protomorph when it's descending the ladder, it's back/dorsal tubes go through the floor, I can't believe that was left in.
