Okay, so we know that the Engineers are a galaxy-spanning people, and their influence extends beyond our one galaxy.
That said, it's a safe bet that the Engineers David bombed were just an isolated settlement, perhaps a colony established to support and supply the outpost on LV-223.

The differences in Engineer physical appearance can be easily explained by hypothesizing a Genetic-based Caste system. However, I am more inclined to whitewash the SfX budget limitations that gave rise to the 'different-looking' Engineers seen in ALIEN: Covenant and simply assume them to be the same as the ones seen in PROMETHEUS. Now, some points I am filling in by logic and assumption as movies are pretty hemmed-in by time and budget.

Humanity has mucked around on LV-223, and it's a safe assumption that some degree of automation like an alarm system or simple environmental monitoring-alert systems took note of the Prometheus crew's arrival and explorations, possibly sending a signal to the appropriate authorities in the Engineer Hegemony.
It's logical to assume this given how volatile the Pathogen is, and how much of it is kept on LV-223.
Some time later, one of their outlying colonies goes 'dark', and again we can presume some kind of automated catastrophe-alert system sent off a message. We have such things today in the real world and our technology is very primitive compared to the Engineers.

Also, having such in-place makes sense, same as it does on our world.

Sooner or later, the Engineers are going to be very invested in getting some answers, and they will likely consider themselves to be on a 'war' footing, however everything that has transpired thus far simply adds fuel to their reason and decision to exterminate Humanity, and hunt down David.
Humanity's future in the ALIEN universe must by definition involve a stand-up civilization- to-civilization contact with the Engineers and if Humanity thinks it can even begin to fight a war vs them, that's just absolute foolishness.

Humanity will have to accept any and all limitations imposed on it by the Engineers, or face extermination. If Humanity wants a future, it will have to fight, but do so very cleverly, and it will take generations as the Engineers are a truly vast enemy with all the advantages on their side. The only way Humanity can 'win' (survive) is by playing quiet, stealthy, clever strategies for generations until it has achieved the means to decapitate Engineer civilization in a single and annihilative stroke where the Engineers have no chance for a last-act deathblow.

What do you think?

Consider that Engineer technology is at minimum a 100 millenia ahead of ours. They could simply turn-off every weapon Humanity attempted to employ, even were it intended to be suicidal in nature.

Is it possible that after thousands of years the Engineers just don't care anymore about these outlying settlements? Maybe their civilization is in total decline related to some other influence that we haven't even seen yet.

And keep up the good work with all these plot ideas and explanations!

I'd also like to add that maybe the meek shall not inherit the universe.  It will be that savage race from the planet Earth that seems to be more adaptable and aggressive and will conquer the Universe!  Then again ...

Okay, they can't jam swords and such.

But how are you going to fight a Juggernaut class starship hovering a few thousand feet in the air with swords, bows and spears?

You mean this, quoted below? Yeah, and it kicked loose some things in my head, hence this Thread :D

QUOTE
The recent novels (Alien: Out of the Shadows/Sea of Sorrows, Rage War Trilogy) introduced a new race, mostly known as dog-aliens or Drukathi.

Always wondered why since they already had the Mala'kak (Engineers). Moreover Tim Lebbon (Author of A:OotS, the "dog's" first appearance) said Fox didn't want him to go in the direction of the Engineers.

My ideas:

1.) The Engineers stole the "goo" (Prometheus » fire of the gods etc.)

2.) The "outbreak" on LV-223 was orchestrated by another race (Drukathi, they seem older and more advanced than the Eng. in the novels) to stop/prevent further use of the accelerant/xeno tech by the Engineers. The 426-derelict/Space Jockey was part of the intervention force but crashed/landed for obvious reasons.

3.) Having left some means of surveillance the Drukathi get wind of the Prometheus incident, investigate and thus start tracking/watching David. Maybe even using his madness to wipe out the Planet 4-Engineers (Prometheus » punishment). Leaving David marooned on Planet 4 could've been part of the plan assuming he'd die there.

It's possible they are a civilization in decline, or just have a different way of doing things, and travel times might well be an issue. OR perhaps all worlds are expected to be self-sufficient and help ONLY comes in when something truly nightmarish transpires??

TY also for your kind words and I will assuredly keep working on ideas and ponderings about the wider ALIENverse! :)

Heh...
Perhaps Humanity WILL inherit the Universe, but I doubt the Engineers would cede their position in whatever Hierarchy there is without some dispute. ;)

That's what I'm saying...Humanity WILL find a way, but it WON'T be easy, or quick.
It would take a LONG time, and it would be a war more akin to a Generations-long 'chess-game' as Humanity would have to be VERY careful, clever, sneaky and would have only ONE chance to break the Engineer civilization so badly it could not react and kill Humanity with a last-act deathblow.

A ship just like that one was rammed by the Prometheus, and was unscathed, so blowing an entryway into it won't happen.

Also, again, they can just EMP the helicopter, or the entire planet before coming in to drop Pathogen bombs.

Also, they very likely have many, MANY other weapons and tools to use versus an enemy. It's quite probable they at least have extremely advanced, high-powered laser-based weapons.

I know we are talking fantastical stuff but any Alien technology that far ahead of us is like us dealing with an ant-pile. We most likely couldn't even comprehend their technology much less counter it.

I like it in movies how they always show we blow up their mothership or infect them with our germs.

This is so outlandish its laughable...A technology that far advanced would have made their ships and systems impervious to any force we can imagine.

They would not bother to send themselves...They would send machines or better yet, nano-probes...Far more efficient and economical...

I know we like to dream that no force in the universe could take us, but if an Alien race wanted our backwater planet, they would simply take it and wipe us out probably before we even knew they were coming.

It seems humanity might be as important as the poor pale goo bombed folks. I think it should get to basics like Alien/Aliens to bring back the human vibes of people talking about pay/shares- instead of gods and serpants and lofty concepts.

Yeah, fine, whatever.

I'm sick of you and your harrassment of me via PM, by the way. I'll be handing that over to the Admin.

If you don't have the manhood to face-of against me in the open, don't be such a coward as to snipe at me in private with your foul-mouthed tirades.

There's a whole forum of folks here as witnesses that I never once referenced Turkey, in any way or form.

Whatever figments in your mind you claim against me, well, that's between you and your psychologist.

That said, the pics you posted, good luck explaining your violation of OpSec Protocols and Discipline to your CO.

Last time I saw something that amatheurish as what you've been engaging in was from some Taliban posting selfies on Twitter.

NO, I'm not a soldier, but I'm married to one, and he's wondering how badly your CO is gonna chew you up for the pics you posted that violate OpSec.
That's hardly a minor infraction.

I have seen some be court martialed for violating OPSEC thinking they were just sharing pictures.

Hmm...

Let's see.

1; shot out the legs of your claims against me.

2; showed you've violated OpSec, and you claim to be a soldier

3; your STILL persisting in your claims against me.

4; Now your getting defensive vs dk who merely pointed out that you committed a pretty serious breach of MilRegs.

So, what's next?
