MemberFacehuggerJun-07-2017 8:55 AMI have to admit I really liked the Neomorphs, the back-face bursters, the seed pod infection process, and the way the Neomorphs snuck around & never ceased hunting the crew members. The biggest letdown to me was the attempt to cram the Big Chap into this movie. I was not even scared of him? Am I the only one who face-palmed when David led Oram into the egg room, to be face-hugged, only to have the fetus pop out to wave hello? This version of the Xeno killed two crew members who were in a shower. Two. That does not even count Oram & Lope? The Neomorphs did a better job! Ok, I just felt the Xeno was so forced, I have been trying not to say anything for a while. The Xeno in AC did not really scare me. There, I said it! Castigate me at will!!

MemberFacehuggerJun-07-2017 11:11 AMI totally agree with you regarding the xenomorph. It was not scary... But in a interview Ridley Scott told that it is not supposed to be scary because it is cooked... kind of ... but the neomorph was scary ... I really enjoyed all the scenes with it

MemberPraetorianJun-07-2017 1:46 PMYeah I have to agree, the Xenomorph felt tacked on, that whole end sequence was a mess. Rest of the film was good up until that point.
What got me was that Daniels & T both had battle rifles, had perfectly good corridors to pen the xeno in for a narrow field of fire BUT felt it would be smart to lure it into a large wide open space, that was cluttered, dimly lit, with plenty of hiding and ambush spots for the xeno. Essentially they surrendered every advantage they had.
And still the xeno just strolled through the door and ran around like a lost sheep. then fell for the whole out-the-airlock trick again....
Would've been better just to the let the Neomorph's have the limelight for the film.

MemberTrilobiteJun-07-2017 1:56 PMThe only time I was ever "scared" was the first time I saw this:

MemberTrilobiteJun-07-2017 2:16 PMIRaptus Yep especially for its time. I don't think that initial drooling close up was ever topped. I am talking about seeing it for the first time- it was like WTF? but you knew those teeth meant bad news.

MemberFacehuggerJun-07-2017 2:38 PMCerulean Blue, you've done it now and your lack of faith/support has ruined everything. As a special snowflake I castigate you to the shower where a xeno will wash our mouth out! JUST KIDDING
I think Ridley just phoned it in myself. As others have said, a little bit of creativity could have added that "Scare". With the Android Show taking so much time from the film, Ridley was unable to add that much need few minutes to frighten us. Worst case, he just can't be bothered with an inventive use of the big chap to make us jump in our seats. C.B. you're not alone

MemberPraetorianJun-07-2017 2:53 PMCapt Torgo lol I'd like to time it exactly, but I reckon there was as much screen time given to David deciding what song he would like to play on the piano than the xenomorph battle on the Covenant.

MemberFacehuggerJun-07-2017 7:27 PMNah, the bigchap was thrown in to keep the 'what! no xeno's in prometheus at all' group happy, the neo's scared me more just for their extreme aggressiveness, hell yeah.

MemberOvomorphJun-08-2017 2:27 AMHey all - first post here :) I think the part with the xeno was 2 rushed. It should have been a hide and seek Szenario: Daniels and Tennessee hiding in that hangar, trying 2 avoid the Alien. The Alien wasnt sneeky enough - it just rushed into that hangar without any second thought.
