MemberChestbursterJun-05-2017 4:05 AMNot to be too negative here, but is anyone else baffled that Ridley and Fox put together this Alien rule book to maintain standards/continuity all while releasing a movie that is out of sync with it's own novelization?
The more examples I see of this, the more faith I lose in Ridley and Fox to even remotely manage this franchise. Having my doubts about this rule book really binding anyone to anything.

MemberFacehuggerJun-05-2017 4:40 AMI think the pages are mostly covered by stick figure drawings along with ones of David in a bunny suit hiding eggs.

MemberTrilobiteJun-05-2017 6:16 AMI think the first 14 pages go something like this:

4 O

7 A
8 T

10 E

MemberChestbursterJun-05-2017 7:20 AMDK - Great assumption. Probably true.lol or cry
QueenElizabethShaw - You seem to be suffering similar to me. Everything we theorised and invested our time into seems to be worth nothing.
I can guarantee that the regulars on here care more about this than RS and Fox put together. Which hurts.
We can only hope and debate on these issues as i can not see any answers coming from Fox or RS
Post a:c we have suffered and i know its a franchise but when you invest your time into something, you expect to be rewarded. However, right now, my expectations are if we are rewarded with what we desire, we will be very lucky.
Yet im sure we will get over this.
The point i am trying to convince myself with is we got another Alien film. With a few more reveals we would of loved it. Those reveals did not arrive, however we still have to hope.
Im certainly not going to let a:c ruin my franchise, however hard it is to accept.

MemberDeaconJun-05-2017 7:27 AMIt does appear that either FOX dont care about the Franchise or those in charge of the Project have not seen the Franchise.
Ridley Scott has dementia or Logan/Harper have never seen a Alien Movie.
As every element seems to have been Forgotten as far as how any Set of Guide Lines are followed.
These seem to be the Main Conflicting Stinkers...
*Space Jockey Size
*Engineers size and appearence
*Alien Gestation/Growth Rate/How Gestation occurs
*How the Black Goo Works

MemberChestbursterJun-05-2017 7:49 AM@BigDave - Those 4 points you made are so valid. And more.
I consider myself to be a fan, yet I could not say with any guarantee that I know the answer to those 4 points.
You could probably name a dozen more that i could not say for certain that i am sure about them. How after so many films are we left with all this doubt in our minds?
Key areas too. We havent got to the nitty-gritty yet either.
I know some mystery is healthy and it spawned our interest but at some point we need answers, then more questions. Thats seems a fair balance. They can overlap any way they like. So long as we are rewarded with some clarity. We not asking for classic film. No. We are being realistic though surely its not too much to ask for?

MemberDeaconJun-05-2017 8:20 AMIndeed...
The first TWO Points will just be a Oversight, we will not be expected to notice the differences... we are expected to ignore any size differences
The second TWO Points are done just so they can drive the Plot Along in as quick a way as possible.
IF the Black Goo did as Prometheus showed us, then Paradise would either be over-ran with Hybrid Organisms and Engineer Fifields, unless there Life-Span is Short in which case the Covenant Crew would discover mutated Humanoids and then after seeing what happened to Ledwood and Hallet, they sure as Hell would be much more cautious to David.
Or alternatively there would be No Engineer Bodies, and what we would have is a complete Re-set of Organic Life and so Xeno-strain Life-forms but then how far down the Evolutionary Tree would we be in 10 years? OR Alternatively have it the Black Goo destroyed everything and so the Engineers got broken down into Black Soup that did not start a New Stage of Evolution... but this would mean Paradise would have Nothing.. No Engineers.. Nothing at all... Apart from the Spores.
The Faster Gestation/Growth was needed due to the limited time of the Movie to bring in TWO Xenomorphs... having a Longer Gestation/Growth rate would have meant changing the Story or fitting in some scenes to explain what Walter, Daniels and others get up to while Oram has gone missing for 8-12 hours... and then the same again for the Xenomorph to had Grown... So they simply could not have done this.
The Gestation/Growth Rate was Necessary to the Plot therefore.

MemberFacehuggerJun-05-2017 10:36 AMNycro that is really funny. I can imagine the suits at fox along with Ridley behaving like preschoolers with this coloring/rule book. Big Dave, keep swinging that hammer as one must fight for our rights concerning things we love. I fear Twitter and YouTube may be the only avenue to get our hopes across to those who can "fix" / improve the situation. The mcguffin goo has now become the be all end all terror in the universe. Our friendly neighborhood xenomorphs have nothing on the ampules and it's reign of Almighty terror. It's gonna take a long ass time to heal this pain but as I've said before; Requiem and Resurrection have been elevated by recent events and I'll defend them to my last breath. Reckon it can only get better , surely

MemberFacehuggerJun-05-2017 12:43 PM20 page rule book that says F*** the Alien Universe continuity...
...Albeit in a nice professional way...
That is all folks, I am off to destroy the ant colony trying to take over my back yard. My hope is to kill them off at least half as fast as David destroyed an Ancient, technologically advanced, star-spanning civilization....

MemberXenomorphJun-05-2017 2:58 PMI really honestly hope this movie was used to set-up the next one, throw us some eye candy while the mother of all mothers is dropped on us in the next one. In which all of our engineer questions will be answered and the alien again reigns supreme in our nightmares.

MemberFacehuggerJun-05-2017 3:52 PMI'm imagining...
1. Engineers : white skin and some other junk n stuff.
2. xenos : black dudes with big heads n junk n stuff.
3. David : he looks like that fassbender innit. N junk n stuff.
4. Black goo: not a bloody clue... Go to 5.
5. Go to 1. repeat 4 times to get 20 ...N junk n stuff...
"It's almost as if they are making it up as they go along" :D

MemberPraetorianJun-05-2017 8:18 PMWhen ALIEN: Manticore is released (soon, it is coming along steadily so don't worry), it'll be interesting to see if FOX notices it, and that an 'amateur' like myself can align and repair the unholy mess they've made into a balanced Continuity.
If it gets really popular, albeit being fan-fiction, FOX might well have to take notice...as I am seriously out to show them up at their own game.
IN SPACE THERE IS NO WARNING

MemberFacehuggerJun-05-2017 9:55 PMIt's pretty hard to get fan fiction taken seriously and noticed. Even Blomkamp didn't get his movie made. But, I applaud your efforts....
