MemberPraetorianMay-23-2017 3:53 PM‘Twentieth Century Fox is celebrating the early box office success of Alien: Covenant, which opened in theaters late Thursday night. Early reports have the Prometheus sequel opening at an estimated $40 million. While this is a far cry from the huge $70+ million opening of other recent franchises, it’s a modest amount that all but guarantees a lifetime domestic gross of $100 million.’

MemberFacehuggerMay-23-2017 4:09 PMThis article was three days ago lol. Did you read the funny comments below the article? Also, why did you create a new thread from the last box office thread you created?
I think it will make a small profit.

MemberFacehuggerMay-23-2017 4:14 PMIt won't do as well as PROMETHEUS, but it's far from a flop. A lot of people who enjoyed it (and there are a lot of us who do) are seeing it repeatedly. I'm going for a fourth viewing in an hour, and will probably have a fifth during the Memorial Day holiday.

MemberFacehuggerMay-23-2017 4:18 PM4 or 5 viewings? Lol. You are in the extreme minority my friend. I LOVE Prometheus more than most and I went to the theater ONCE and bought it on BD the day of release. I'm not made of money.
I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched Androids blow and finger each other's flutes.

MemberTrilobiteMay-23-2017 4:21 PMI hope for financial success and general approval from the masses. I will not forget that as big of a fan of the franchise I am, it has really never had mass appeal.
I have not seen it but have been hearing from people at work who liked it as a sci fi movie in general but are not rabid Alien fans like us. That is good to hear.
As I predicted on a different thread a month ago, my local hipster rag gave a snarky 2/5 review.

MemberFacehuggerMay-23-2017 4:26 PMlol @phallic. Hey, we need fans like him to have repeat viewings to help the box office. He probably waste another thousand dollars on the movie lol.
But wow, some people are truly fanatical fans about this movie. I bet they sleep with pet xenomorphs and facehuggers in their beds.

MemberFacehuggerMay-23-2017 4:30 PMPhallic Jaw, I'm not made of money either, mate. Odds are you make more money than I. I've just been saving up (and kinda dipping into my grocery budget LoL) for my tickets.
I loved PROMETHEUS as well. It's still the only movie I've ever seen twice in one day, back-to-back showings to boot. I got the DVD upon release, and when I heard about the Collector's Edition Blu-Ray/DVD set with the special features disc, I dipped into my emergency stash of cash (back when I had such a thing) to buy a Blu-Ray player and the set. PROMETHEUS is the only reason I have a Blu-Ray player LoL, and it's the only Blu-Ray I own. I still buy DVDs instead.
One of the things I love about this forum is that it's a haven for PROMETHEUS fans. Until I came across this site (only joined a few months ago but have been lurking since 2012), I felt like some sort of pariah--couldn't say one good word about PROMETHEUS on Facebook without some kid calling me a "fag."
Anyways, I know you don't care for COVENANT. Personally, the more I watch it, the more I enjoy it--not as much as ALIEN or PROMETHEUS, but certainly more than the Ripley sequels or AvP flicks. To each their own. Cheers! *Raises pint.*

MemberPraetorianMay-23-2017 4:37 PMRaido, I liked Covenant's atmosphere very much and the new world Ridley had created, at the end I felt I want two extra hours from the story. I envy you. :)

MemberOvomorphMay-23-2017 5:03 PMOh my God, I could barely make it through one viewing and people are seeing it 4 to 5 times???It goes to show every franchise has it's rabid fanbase, and this is coming from a huge Alien fan.

MemberFacehuggerMay-23-2017 5:44 PMlol @poochies. Yes, we are witnessing really hardcore fans of the series. The movie could have had 0 percent on rotten tomatoes and the whole world griping about it; but some will still call this movie; the greatest Ridley Scott film of all time that deserves Oscar accolades for Best Picture and Best Actor. lol

MemberTrilobiteMay-23-2017 5:54 PMThe numbers are certainly interesting to see- it supports and rationalizes our fandom perhaps. Honestly, I don't care too much. I like a lot of movies/music that never received mass kudos- but I like it and that is what is important to me.
