OK so I know I have major problems with the movie but I caved and shelled out for the digital version of the novel earlier, as I am still an Alien fan and I was curious about what would be different and/or expanded upon - if anything - as movie novels often are/do.
Anyways - SPOILERS ahead - I basically "thumbed" through some sections (which I don't typically do with a new book) to read the bits I was interested in/looking for expansion on. The most notable thing I found so far (again, don't read any further if you don't want to know) was the ending.....
Div'Ed doesn't "reveal" himself to Danny before she falls into cryoslumber. So she has NOOOO idea!!! Truly terrifying!!! The reader only knows because his voice changes and he gives an order to Muthur as David (just as in the movie). The rest of the scene ends the exact same way. What do you guys think of this ending? I kinda prefer it. She has no idea its Div'Ed and so the reader is to assume that she may or may not find that out at some point after she wakes up, if she even wakes up at all. It's pretty frightening this way, because in the movie albeit frightening, at least we know that Danny knows and so we have SOME element of hope. But this way, we have absolutely NO idea what is going to happen.
I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched Androids blow and finger each other's flutes.

MemberDeaconMay-25-2017 9:41 AMThe Movie Ending was poor.... on one hand it was very terrifying as for how Daniels Reaction was... so in this sense it was a Very Good Ending... a nice Twist.. well executed.
It however is Poor simply as far as where they go next... because we have to ask now Daniels knows this is David, surely David cant have her go around and inform the Crew.
Right there this sets up a logical route that Daniels will be killed off, which is a odd way to go after the killing off with Shaw, but then i guess the Franchise Prequels are about David.... Waterston did hint when asked about Ripley Connection, she said the old movie was about Ripley and the new Ones are about David.... in context that David is the Ripley of these Prequels..
This maybe hints at Daniels indeed will be killed off in the next movie.

MemberDeaconMay-25-2017 9:44 AMIt really depends how they intend to take the Next Movie and what Daniels does when she awakes and what David does... if they intend to have Daniels taken out then the changes indeed would Work...
The Alternative Earlier Ending for AC was also different and Daniels had no ideas about Walter being David.
If they intended to take us to the next Movie where Daniels was oblivious to who David was... then i would have handled it differently.
By removing the whole Cabin on a Lake dialog.... and then have Walter open up the Embryo Draw... Barf up the first Embryo and look at it.. the Camera zooms in and in Davids Voice we hear... "Big Things have Small Beginnings"

MemberOvomorphMay-25-2017 9:49 AMThe panic on her face when she realizes it's David was as powerful as when the Neo was shot - David's reaction was quite intense.
In the novel, David asks Muther to open communications to Wayland-Yutani, which I though quite interesting.
