MemberOvomorphMay-13-2017 9:16 AMI'm new here, sorry if its been discussed but I intend for this to be for people who have just watched the movie. Liked the film but the Engineer story was non-existent! There was the flashback (that came from the short teaser with Shaw in) that showed David docking with a huge claw thing very slightly resembling a Juggernaut. What was this? Why did all the Engineers or whatever they were supposed to be look NOTHING like the ones from Prometheus. I can accept there are reasons and it looks like it was done on purpose by Ridley (changing there appearance). But why was NONE of this explained let alone even vaguely hinted at?

MemberOvomorphMay-13-2017 10:56 AMThat claw was just a space dock for ships right? After it docked we can see opening doors probably for cargo or maybe after docking ship is going down there. Looks like Derelict doesn't have any chassis so this is probably the only way to land which also explains why we see it crashed in the forest. I assume the look of engineers was different because they weren't warrior/scientist(no exosceletons) just normal civilian city with government. Maybe they were another humanoid race created by engineers. They looked very happy seeing ship of their creators returning again.

MemberOvomorphMay-13-2017 12:13 PMYea many questions about those engineer types.
1) they were a subspecies created by them
2) david decided to show the engineers that he can be creator and destroyer
3) something bigger is at hand? maybe engineers enemies met david ?
Many questions very little answers but we are supposed to get some maybe in next movie ?

MemberOvomorphMay-13-2017 1:51 PMDoes it show/explain how the juggernaut crashes in the movie?

MemberFacehuggerMay-13-2017 2:03 PMNo but Dave spins a tale about the crash which I don't necessarily believe. He is the ultimate unreliable narrator!
I hope we see or hear a few more details in deleted scenes/extras on the bluray!

MemberFacehuggerMay-13-2017 2:09 PMIf you think back to the start of Prometheus we see a huge disc shaped Engineer ship that has no explanation/details given. So I think that ship and the Scorpion docking thing are just designed to show us that clearly the engineers have huge bits of technology that is way ahead of us. There are lots of things in Star Wars that we see but aren't named or explained in the movies but are just a part of that universe and we don't need tons of exposition (I guess that's what Ridley thinks because we don't get tons of exposition, but I would have actually liked a bit more exposition/explanation or showing scenes of what happened to Shaw and David on the journey to Paradise)

MemberOvomorphMay-13-2017 2:53 PMMaybe because it's David's flashback. He didn't tell the truth that's why engineers are not engineers and there's some vertical bigger juggernaut. Maybe juggernaut didn't dock to anything and crashed, and people were already dead before David arrived

In Prometheus the Juggernauts landed right into the holes in the ground with no need of a docking station. So this thing should have another purpose.

MemberDeaconMay-14-2017 7:21 PMWell we only see the Hangers in Prometheus for the purpose of those Ships taking off.... However indeed if the Engineer Juggernauts need the Scorpionaught which actually is referred to the Mother Juggernaught ... if they need these to Dock and Land then why are there none on LV-223 or that we dont see.
The other thing is as the Juggernaught approaches the Hanger in AC opens up and the Scorpion Ship moves in to intercept and then Dock with Davids Ship.
The Scorpion Ship is larger and no way will it fit into that Hanger, so this Hanger is meant for the Juggernaught.
What is the the Scorpion Ship? I have to wonder as with a number of Flaws with this movie and how it never follows established Lore of previous movies.. IS did they even know or Plan for what purpose the Mother Ship Docking Ship had?
Or did it just LOOK COOL.
*The Docking Ship cant be needed to Bombard a Planet so we can assume, as otherwise why are there no Scorpion ships seen in Prometheus... the Engineer leaves for Earth... but what was he to do if he lacked a Docking Ship to allow for the release of the Cargo....? Crash Land it?
Nope this cant add up, and if the Docking Station had the Purpose to Activate the Urns, then those Engineers/Beings would surely had been concerned and not interested in greeting the incoming Juggernaught.
So the Docking Ship is a Mystery...
*Did David guide it to the Docking Ship? But why? its not needed to Bombard them surely.
*Did the Docking Ship automatically pull in the Juggernaught as some kind of Safety Procedure? Is this like Passport Control, Bag Checking when you are leaving a Airplane etc..
*Is the Docking Station unmanned?
If it is Manned maybe they would be welcoming those on the Juggernaught as the Juggernaught connects to the Docking Ship with the Part of the Ship that has the Entrance to the Juggernaught.
so yes this is a Mystery and Interesting one at that...
I would assume maybe a few Engineers are on this Docking Ship and are set to welcome or inspect the Ship, but David unleashes the Cargo no soon as it Docks..
If this is the case, maybe those on the Docking Ship or if its unmanned maybe a Automatic Function then does something to cause those Bodies to be Burnt up, as a way to Stop the Infection? The process of this Safety Device sends the Juggernaught crashing?
If its Manned then maybe those beings on board initiate a Weapon that Neutralizes the infection by a Energy Weapon, and also it causes the Juggernaught to Crash..
These being then leave Paradise on that Docking Ship to go to their other Worlds to Warn the others of what has happened... this is a way to tie up loose ends for the sequel.

MemberOvomorphMay-15-2017 12:25 PMWhat I think happened is that David dropped the bombs on the beings down below as seen, but the whole time E.Shaw was in hyper-sleep/Cry-sleep. something happens to the ship with the cargo which David deploys, I think it gets attacked by that docking station/scorpion spaceship/hanger/ which leads David's ship to crash, hence killing E.Shaw in the process (which would be true going on David's account.) he tries to save her as best as he can by experimenting on her and even using the black goo but he stumbles upon something entirely different meaning he creates the xenomorph and all other experiments that is hinted in the Covenant film

MemberFacehuggerMay-15-2017 1:10 PMI often wondered what happened to that scorpion dock.
I wonder if there were actual engineers on board, in cryo sleep, who awaken every x years to see the progress of the colony below
When the juggernaut enters the atmosphere, it awakens the engineers, who then pilot the scorpion thing to the plaza area, but are expecting other engineers to pay them a visit, not a psycho synthetic who bombs their prized creation
I'm guessing the dock opens fire on the juggernaut and it crashes.
