MemberChestbursterMar-13-2017 7:28 AMInteresting.
Maybe David really is some sort of cyborg combo with Weyland's biological son, that perhaps passed away early in life, and who Weyland of course wanted back to life in any way possible.
That would seem the most straightforward explanation as to why the backstory might be more interesting than we thought.

MemberChestbursterMar-13-2017 8:16 AMSorry, Chris, but I for one am glad he posted it here, since I don't frequent that thread, since it has become too long. Maybe let posts like this stay on the main thread for 1-3 days and then move it over? Just so people like me can have a chance at it? Thanks!

MemberDeaconMar-13-2017 6:37 PMThere are other interviews out there that say Weyland is 40 in his cameo which i think its odd, surely they mean around 40?
The opening Scene has to be between 2025 and 2035 and well a 40 year old Peter Weyland would mean the year 2030 which would be nearly 2 years after David has first interacted with Humans. And a year after Weyland wins a Patent Law suit against Yutani. This is logically to do with Synthetics

MemberXenomorphMar-13-2017 6:49 PMGuys I think Ridley didn't do David right in Prometheus. See below
“We start 'Covenant' with a really clever prologue that settles—once and for all—who David really is. [It will] really get people going because it’s f*cking smart for a change.”

MemberDeaconMar-13-2017 6:56 PMWe need to be very careful what Ridley says and also sometimes completely ignore what he says as he changes his mind a lot ;)
Some have speculated that David is actually Weyland... then you go figure with Prometheus lol and its clearly not the case... however i think this was Weylands Aim... eventually but he could not crack the Technology.
He could pass Davids Memories and Experiences to Synthetic to Synthetic but Weyland could never transfer a Humans to a Synthetic..
Hence is last chance of IMMORTALITY came from taking Shaw up on her offer to find our Makers.
Indeed i think the clever thing is as i discussed a number of times and how David is unique because he has his memories passed on to each new model.
This was a Element i was going to explore with my Prometheus 2 that i abandoned in 2014, and it was a flash back scene of Davids after he watches over Shaw in Cryo-sleep... Shaw also had a dream but we saw hers... David could not..
That tied her to Ripley... yeah i know lol... not as you think though.

MemberFacehuggerMar-13-2017 7:24 PMI would take anything that comes out of Movie Pilot with a HUGE grain of salt. 85% of content is basically click bait, and the other 15% is old news with misleading titles (more clickbait)

MemberDeaconMar-13-2017 8:01 PMThis news has been reported elsewhere..
I think we need to be careful not to read into it too deep... i will assume all it would show us is that there was more to Weylands Agenda to create Androids than just to become Advanced Toasters and so a piece of Technology.
And there is more to David 8 in Prometheus/AC than him being just one of thousands of Androids ever created.
I would safely assume the various topics i had covered my TWO Cents (which is kind of the angle i was going with the draft i was working on) is close to what will be revealed.
Alternatives i have heard are that Weyland is now David, and that this scene is Walter and some how Weyland is a Android or a Clone etc...
The only logical way this scene can fit Weyland (Guy Pearce 49 years old) is if he is playing a about 40 year old Peter Weyland, which means we are looking at a period of David 2 to David 3
The TED Talk 2023 Peter Weyland was about 33 years old.
When David 1 is first created Weyland is 35 years old.
When David 2 is created Weyland is 38 years old and this is the first sets of Human Interaction between Weylands Creation and Humans
When David 3 is released Peter Weyland is 45 years old, and this is when Weylands creation has more interactions and is deployed internally now that Synthetic Restrictions have been lifted.
I would say then this scene..
And indeed is when Weyland and David will talk about why Weyland created him, Weylands pursuit to play God, they will talk about Creation and Mortality and Immortality.
I think it will show that Each David Prototype is Special and Weylands own Personnel Son, and each memory is passed on to the next Prototype... we would find out why each Prototype may have a more relaxed programing as time goes on as Weyland sees David as his Son but also a Mirror or his Goals.
These that give David his Soul.... David would thus (and only each Prototype) have over 70 years of memories by the time the Covenant Crew Arrive.
And i think we would find out Weylands Ultimate Goal was to Cheat Death though the Creation of a Synthetic, if only Weyland can find a way to Back up a Humans Memories, Experiences.. thus Soul.... Then he would have made Mankind IMMORTAL
This is what i think Ridley Scott is hinting at..
