There is no such thing as protomorph in the trailer.Lots of people will say that its not the same (+ eggs and facehuggers), its different, animalistic etc, but who the hell is going to use OLD versions from 1979 in 2017.
When you type protomorph in muthur it says that its the deacon.
Maybe the difference is because chestburster came from engineer and layed eggs in the ship as seen in Alien (1979).

MemberFacehuggerMar-07-2017 4:38 PMThe OLD version is still the best. Just recall the close-up of the alien's portrait as it holds Parker still before killing him. The slow yet smooth mechanics of the jaw, with the semi-translucent nature and copious amounts of drool. A remarkable feat of engineering by Carlo Ramboldi, which just on its own is superior to everything else that came after.

MemberTrilobiteMar-07-2017 5:32 PMI agree with Stan. That design at that time defined the series and has been the blue print since IMO. Others have copied it or borrowed over the years.
The xeno has mechanical "DNA" to it too though (unless I missed something) and wouldn't expect to see a proper xeno until the follow up to AC.

MemberTrilobiteMar-07-2017 5:57 PMI made it up lol. It looks to have metal teeth and tubes though.
Mechanical or inorganic features may have been better words.

MemberDeaconMar-07-2017 6:29 PMThe Alien has changed over movie to movie and only Aliens really is closer to the 1979 Original... the others are different less Bio-Mechanical
This new Xenomorph appears to be more Organic, but we dont know for sure yet if this would be the 100% Protomorph that leads to those Eggs in Alien.
Or Ridley is showing via a series of experiments and evolution how the 1979 Xenomorph could be achieved.

MemberDeaconMar-07-2017 7:15 PMIts hard to tell in thee Trailer but the Xenomorph related Organism that is trying to attack McBrides Character, does seem to have Metallic Teeth..
But its maybe too hard to say for sure....
The Bio-Mechanical elements had to come from something, as far as the 1979 Alien... and i always feel the difference between the Aesthetic of the Juggernaught and Derelict are KEY
One is either...
*Re-engineered off the other.
*Evolution of design.
*Something has caused the Derelict to become like that.
Prometheus the Engineer Ship becomes less Organic.. while the Xeno DNA Organisms becomes more Organic compared to Alien.
Does something cause a Merger of Machine and Organic Matter, i know some will say its Scientifically impossible... but then so much of the Alien Franchise is also impossible to a degree.
The Xenomorph and Derelict were Part Organic/Part Synthetic Material..... some Race or Event created this.
