MemberPraetorianFeb-01-2017 11:06 PMPreviously I've discussed whether the presence of the alien hive on Sevastopol Station was a product of a queen or egg morphing. The idea of this one is since apparently there was a queen, were the xenomorph operating independently or via hive mind. Also the xenomorph apparently have an extremely short life span.If thats true, then why didn't we find any xeno corpses, does that support the egg morphing theory,or is it more in favor of a queen. You discuss and decide.

MemberXenomorphFeb-01-2017 11:42 PMCreative Assembly have said there's an unseen Queen. Which I think fits within the context of the story (even though it would've been cooler to see some egg morphing). I don't recall anything in the game about short life spans.

dk
MemberTrilobiteFeb-01-2017 11:42 PMThere was no real evidence of a queen in game a far as I could tell.
Life span seems relative since the Xeno life span lasted the duration of the game pretty much.

ninXeno426
MemberPraetorianFeb-01-2017 11:46 PMThat's why i prefer the egg morphing theory. The life span is a curiosity. How long do they really live?

MemberXenomorphFeb-01-2017 11:47 PMDepends if you take AvP into account. While it could very well be a continuity error, if you take it on face value they live over a century.

ninXeno426
MemberPraetorianFeb-01-2017 11:50 PMThe one in Alien has been said to have been dying and that was roughly 24 hours. The ones in Isolation have been there for a while kind of like Aliens.

MemberXenomorphFeb-01-2017 11:53 PMAliens pretty much nixed the 24 hour life span thing. Which was never really much of a thing anyway.

ali81
MemberNeomorphFeb-02-2017 12:01 AMoriginally, it was to have a limited life span, which makes sense if it has been engineered as a weapon.
SM which xeno lives for over a century?

ninXeno426
MemberPraetorianFeb-02-2017 12:06 AMOkay the xenomorph life span part has been dismissed. How about the hive mind?

MemberTrilobiteFeb-02-2017 12:13 AMThe only concerted behavior I recall was when they surrounded Amanda right before the ship was destroyed near the end. Otherwise I don't recall any demonstration of a hive mind or cooperation.

ali81
MemberNeomorphFeb-02-2017 12:13 AMwe touched on the hive mind theory in another thread and I think the general thought was they act with a hive mind when the queen is present. when its a lone xeno its instinct is to procreate to produce a queen thus creating a hive

ninXeno426
MemberPraetorianFeb-02-2017 12:25 AMYeah i think we can pretty much declare that theory dead too lol.I would think there is no hive mind at work. The solo Alien displays to much sophistication for it to under the influence of a queen.

MemberNeomorphFeb-02-2017 12:37 AMtrue, but its objective is, if going by the directors cut in alien, is to create more eggs to establish a queen/ hive. this is why I like the egg morphing to remain as a way for the lone xeno to procreate. even in the theatrical release in alien where theres no hint of egg morphing, theres not much point in the xeno except a brutal creature as even if successful in escaping on the life pod, it cant create more xenos on its own

ninXeno426
MemberPraetorianFeb-02-2017 12:42 AMEven though it's only in the director's cut,i like to think its still canon.Just because we didn't see it doesn't mean it wasn't happening.

MemberNeomorphFeb-02-2017 12:45 AMI consider it canon. it was ridleys initial idea and was only cut due to the belief it would damage the pace of the movie. I think it may show up at some point as the goo in effect does the same thing so egg morphing would be plausible if there is a direct genetic link between the goo and the xeno

Resurgence
MemberFacehuggerFeb-02-2017 11:34 AMbased on the Chaos aboard sevastopol station and reading through the archive logs, the people make it seem like it was a month or more seeing as how most if not all of the survivors seem to be in a very troubled financial status and it takes more than a week to go from the entire station being in a decent financial state to complete anarchy even if you include xenomorph killing people it still wouldn't cause that strong of an economic impact because it would start out as a rumor and any witnesses would be discredited as insane, lacking proper nutrition, or a murderer which is proven because if the xenomorph attacked the bodies would have most certainly been ejected from the space station if it was known that the xenomorph killed them due to potential disease outbreak and see this particular type in alien which prefers to attack with as few witnesses as possible and since it's nest's in the reactor not many people would go there in their day to day life, and after reading the archive logs they make it pretty clear things started to go south over two weeks before you arrive as in the room where you encounter axel we see around 18 dead bodies in body bags and see few other dead bodies in other areas and not many bodies in the hive and not as many eggs ruling out that all of the other 100+ bodies were egg morphed (while this rules out the queen i'll make a topic on that tomorrow) and due to the aliens method of attacking which requires time to have them separated and kill them as quietly as possible which we know it kills them because they are without a doubt deceased.
Look upon my works, you mighty, and despair

MemberXenomorphFeb-02-2017 1:05 PMIt was exactly one month from the arrival of the Anesidora to the arrival of the Torrens.
"SM which xeno lives for over a century?"
Towards the end of AvP, there's a seen to that shows more Aliens than there were available hosts, meaning some may have been left over form the last hunt in 1904.
