MemberOvomorphJan-30-2017 6:12 PMPARTY TIME!!!! now for the essay question....this reviewer looks to have heard the words 'new ridley scott alien movie' and walked into the trailer with expectations. the reaction is doubt and concern.......SO! if you were sitting right there and had the chance to respond to the concern......how much of what was said would you hop on board with?? what would you challenge and why!?

MemberPraetorianJan-30-2017 6:29 PMFirst of all, that was a bit harsh.Writing off a whole film based on 2 minute teaser is not fair, but it's her opinion. The only concern of hers i might agree with is the shower scene.A little too Requiem meets slasher. But i still don't have a problem with it.

MemberTrilobiteJan-30-2017 6:48 PMId, thanks. never saw this review. Here are my thoughts:
First of all, she disrespected the facehugger. NEVER disrespect the facehugger! You DIE! You die and then go to the hell! She said she was about to watch it apparently for the first time but her reactions appeared as though she had already seen it and proceeded to TALK during the trailer. If you are talking, you are not listening. She does bring up valid points such as stepping onto a planet surface with no protective gear/infection control protocals. I agree with her on the Weaver classiness although that is based solely on a trailer.

MemberPraetorianJan-30-2017 6:52 PM"Really Ridley Scott! This is supposed to be Alien"Im pretty sure it still is.Her treatment of Katherine Waterstone is ridiculous, whether it was the hair cut or the profanity, they have no bearing on the quality of the film whatsoever.

I understand your point on the comparison to Ripley. My take was Ripley had a decidedly more calm approach than Waterson- but this can be easily misjudged since it is only a couple seconds of a bigger movie. It might be best to not compare the two at all. The overall tone of the review came across as dismissive to me. I don’t think RS is going to half ass his baby.

ninXeno426
MemberPraetorianJan-30-2017 7:32 PMI get you.Ripley is unbeatable.I think the profanity is shock value for the redband trailer.I do hope she doesn't come of as too ridiculous or hot headed.

MemberXenomorphJan-30-2017 7:36 PMAs far as I remember Ripley was the only one to say 'Fuck' in Alien.

MemberOvomorphJan-30-2017 8:20 PMTotally agree. Even James Cameron said the other day the franchise has been all over the map since Aliens. I'm still excited to see it, but the Prometheus trailer was epic & this trailer resorted to cliche 2010+ horror conventions. This trailer is making the same mistake they keep on making since Alien 3: it's trying to recreate the qualities of Alien & Aliens on a bigger budget It looks cliched from the very first bloody foot prints. Alien was scary in part because of the film it was filmed on & the relatively low budget. I imagine that, like most filmmakers, Scott isn't as "hungry" as he was in his first films.

as said on here by pretty much everyone opinions, whether the same or different to others on here is welcomed. I think ridley has the same hunger for this trilogy as he had for his earlier movies but remember, alien was made 37 years ago, the man himself is a different person from the guy who broke into movies and was trying to make a name for himself all those years ago. now he is a man highly respected by most, not all, as movies and film making is very objective, and also a man who views the world im sure very differently to the man who made alien. I would bet he has the same hunger as he is returning to a continue a story that has played, along with blade runner, the biggest part in his career. I for one think hes an excellent film maker and has a wonderful eye and vision. I just hope he doesn't let the fox brass interfere and gives the fans the trilogy the original film deserves.

I think that Girl had seen the trailer prior if you ask me, and she has some valid points.... especially the Shower Scene.
It seems they are going for a very Horror Movie Cliche a bit here.
I think as i had a theory way before the trailer and after we heard Ridley say about a Chest Buster beating Scene and the Covenant had couples... i thought erm..... David + Goo + Couples and so a repeat of Holloway and Shaw... but image if the Female was already Pregnant with a Human Fetus.
Then we saw months after the leaked Props with the Baby-head and i thought maybe my idea is actually in the movie...
Then when the Footage was shown, prior to Trailer and some reactions said "killer shower scene" made me wonder and hope again the idea i had was going to Happen.
Infected Female who was pregnant.. say 5-6 months, Shower Cuddle and Love Scene...... BABY-HEAD Belly Buster Scene..
How EPIC would that be? The fear that a couple hoping to find a new World to start a new life to then raise their unborn child... only in horror to see the Mother seem to be in early labor the concerns for Child.... then BOOM! SPLAT! a Belly Burster and it runs off.... how Horrific and Terrifying would that had been?
But alas..... its a Love Scene where a Xeno stalks upon them... so yes its a bit of a Horror Cliche... a Friday the 13th in Space... but that dont mean we can dish dirt on the movie... I doubt every scene would be the similar Horror Slasher Cliche.

MemberFacehuggerJan-31-2017 5:24 AMThe shower scene is still less 18+ then this imo
I think she gave me my first boner ever ahahah

BigDave
MemberDeaconJan-31-2017 5:30 AMNo dont go there Tiago....
We already had the Ass Burster on another Topic... i think a (you know what Burster) would be too X-Rated...
But then if only HR Giger was around and asked to give as much input and control as Ridley has.... i dare imagine what we get then.

MemberDeaconJan-31-2017 5:34 AMTo be fair...
If was was going in Clean.... and so i never visited forums and only read odd article on places that release them but never on sites like this or AVPGalaxy.
I think then seeing the Trailer i think it would have had a better reaction myself, and i would be led to think oh i wander what stuff they are not showing.....
Than me worrying.. oh dear... straight up Fan Service... and bypassing of all Prometheus was showing.

MemberFacehuggerJan-31-2017 5:55 AMshe came out a while back critiquing alien covenant before the trailer came out so my perception is she went into it with an opinion before she saw the trailer. personally I think she sucks as a movie critic. she comes off as someone who owns 20 cats or has a bunch of unicorn statues in her apartment.....but that's just my opinion. lol
