MemberNeomorphJan-05-2017 11:24 PMfrom a discussion on another topic I got to thinking, is ridley going one step farther with the shower scene in covenant than he did with the suggestive scene involving lamberts death in alien? it certainly doesn't look like its tail and the sound we hear it make in the trailor to me suggests quite a sinister motive. does it also suggest male and female aliens?

ninXeno426
MemberPraetorianJan-06-2017 1:38 AMLamberts death was the first thing i thought of when i first watched the trailer. The idea of her death was to suggest some sort molestation. Also want her original death(she was going to get sucked out a window, the idea was reused for resurrections newborn).Dont know about male and female xenomorph but it would be an interesting twist on the alien mythology.

MemberNeomorphJan-06-2017 1:46 AMI only suggest the male and female xeno angle as,going by the trailor, the xeno is behind the man in the scene yet whatever it is that comes into shot is apparently aimed toward the female which would suggest the alien knows the difference between the man and woman which would suggest its a male or at least the male organ of the alien,it ignores the male as it isn't interested in him in that scene. it definitely kills him, again because it has no interest in him, but what interest it has in a naked woman would suggest a sinister sexual motivation that a male would have, possibly

ninXeno426
MemberPraetorianJan-06-2017 2:03 AMI honestly think that its a tail but it is a good why its apears to be more between her legs than his.Perhaps it simply kills him to get him out of the way to,as you put it,do something more sinister. In Vincent Wards wooden planet concept for Alien 3 he did seemingly endow the alien with reproductive organs because it raped and impregnated Ripley

MemberNeomorphJan-06-2017 2:12 AMSW says they touched on the idea of ripley mating with a xeno and she actually quite liked the idea. ridley chose giger because the alien in necronomicon4 that he chose was so scary yet had huge sexual tones, the whole concept quoted by O'Bannon is this is about interstellar rape. the concept for the facehugger and the first person to be impregnated being male was to attack the male viewers own personal fear of this happening. in the first alien it was going for lambert first, ignoring parker. it seemed to take its time killing parker tho in this case parker was the aggressor but going by the covenant trailor, the man is taken by surprise in the shower from behind. it wouls also go some way to answer how does the queen reproduce.

ninXeno426
MemberPraetorianJan-06-2017 2:28 AMThe queen reproduction is another curious thing.Ripley was carrying a queen in 3.I always wondered if it was successfully born if the dog/runner alien would have mated with it to produce a new hive.Ive also thought the praetorian alien from the 2010 avp game was an attempt at a king alien.

ali81
MemberNeomorphJan-06-2017 2:44 AMI think theyl have to follow some form of known species reproductive cycle. such as bee hives have 1 queen but all other bees are female and potential queens though the queen produces a pheromone that stops them from reproducing and keeps them docile, if the queen dies another takes her place. ants colonies are completed destroyed if the queen dies but in both species there is a male for fertilisation though they either die off very soon after mating or live nomadic lives, id probably say dying off quickly would be the better option in this case. or they are in fact hermaphrodites which could explain the scene but asks the question does it know the difference between human males and females and if so, does it have a thing for beastyality or is there something else going on. or I could be totally wrong and it just spears her with its tail

ninXeno426
MemberPraetorianJan-06-2017 2:53 AMAlien does have a long history bizarre sexual themes.Ash's assault on Ripley suggested sexual frustration and Prometheus brought an even more intimate look an alien invasion of the body with the trilobite being a product of Shaw and Holloway's intercourse.

ninXeno426
MemberPraetorianJan-06-2017 2:58 AMThe scene might also depend on whether its a xenomorph or one of the new variants.

MemberNeomorphJan-06-2017 3:06 AMvery true but by the colour and design of the tail,if it is indeed the tail, would point towards the xeno I think no?

ninXeno426
MemberPraetorianJan-06-2017 3:06 AMI wonder would a human somehow be used in the queen's reproduction.

MemberPraetorianJan-06-2017 3:08 AMAgreed.Others have suggested its the protomorph but i really dont think so.

ali81
MemberNeomorphJan-06-2017 3:14 AMsince they all come from the same original base dna structure, the balck goo, but modified due to the different life form infected/impregnated, they would all have lots of basic physical characteristics but im sure they would be enough distinctive differences to tell them apart, hence why I believe it to be a xeno. I hope ridley answers all these questions by the end of the series but would be interesting to see what, if any, questions he leaves unanswered

ali81
MemberNeomorphJan-06-2017 3:16 AMif ridley is using multiple forms of canon for reference such as the comics, books, concept art etc (and I think he is looking at some similarities in the trailors designs) many of the refernences have depicted the xeno mating with a human

ninXeno426
MemberPraetorianJan-06-2017 3:20 AMBetween the xenomorph, the deacon, and what weve seen of the neomorphs there are plenty of similarities and distinct differences that set them apart.Same thing goes for facehuggers and the trilobite.

MemberNeomorphJan-06-2017 3:24 AMI agree, be interesting to see how it plays out and iv not been so eager to see a film so much in a long time

ali81
MemberNeomorphJan-06-2017 3:26 AMI think what would be interesting to see in maybe a future film is to see the impact on a fully functioning hive when the queen is killed

ninXeno426
MemberPraetorianJan-06-2017 3:33 AMIt would be new.I remember on one of the quadrilogy dvds someone said that each movie brought the battle closer and closer to the human body.An alien raping a human would seem like where the series has been heading all along

MemberNeomorphJan-06-2017 3:40 AMmy thoughts and from what O'Bannon had said, he wanted this creature to hit us right in our greatest fear and that would be the ultimate fear, especially as a species

MemberChestbursterJan-06-2017 8:43 AMIf we want to take a painful moment to recall AVPR, the predamorph totally impregnated a woman with multiple offspring if I'm not mistaken. I found that scene was equal parts of stupid and disturbing.
Also, in regards to whether Lambert's experience was sexually suggestive...if you've watched the deleted scene that is part of Lambert's death. The xeno totally looks like it's trying to be cute and flirt with her (with the whole scootching up to her move) and then it flashes her a little smile. Clearly the xeno had a crush and perhaps this is how xenos initiate their foreplay.
The deleted scene can be viewed here for those who haven't seen it.

MemberOvomorphJan-06-2017 9:18 AMI guess I failed to see anything sexual about the death of Lambert... as for the Aliens, they seem much scarier and more alien if they are parthenogenic. I have always preferred the idea that each and every alien was capable of becoming a parthenogenic queen given time, because this made a single alien into a potential infestation.

Myrddin365
MemberFacehuggerJan-06-2017 9:20 AMNever thought about it that way, but now that you mention it that's exactly what it looks like. Before the scene was just wierd and didn't really work, and I got why they cut it.
Safe? Of course he isn't safe, but he's good!

Resurgence
MemberFacehuggerJan-06-2017 9:53 AMThe guy probably got neutered they were because that was a lot of blood for just one cut. that is definitely suggest how lambert died
Look upon my works, you mighty, and despair

Myrddin365
MemberFacehuggerJan-06-2017 10:03 AM@ifox even in the original cut Lambert is clearly not wearing all the clothes she had been before the Alien showed up. In an extended cut of Ripley finding Parker and Lambert, Lambert is completely naked.
Safe? Of course he isn't safe, but he's good!

MemberChestbursterJan-06-2017 10:05 AMYa know, I was mostly joking with that post and had pretty much thought the same thing that Myrddin365 originally thought.
But reconsidering now, perhaps Ridley did want to present the concept that warrior xenos would hope to court females of any upright species but later recognized the concept wasn't well developed enough in the film for it to be clearly understood and decided to abandon it. Who knows

I can see that when the xeno extended its tail at Lambert it seemed phallic, but that little crawl looked pretty silly. Maybe the actor was being directed to get closer and that part wasn't intended to be seen. Maybe I am overthinking it.

ninXeno426
MemberPraetorianJan-06-2017 3:30 PMali81 i do think its possible for a hive to possibly survive the death of a queen.Ive seen two games explore this idea a bit.In the 2010 avp game at the end of the xeno campaign the queen is killed and it shows your xeno writhing in pain,it doesnt as it saved or i should say spared Weyland to be used in further tests. The game may even show other xenos dying(i havent played it in awhile so i cant 100 percent remember).Theres also Alien Isolation.Late in the game you find the aliens hive where you also learn theres more than 1 alien on the station. You eventually destroy the hive and a lot of aliens fleeing and surviving the destruction. While a queen was never seen its safe to assume there was one and was likely killed when the hive was destroyed. If there was a queen, then the rest of the xenomorph survived without her(though not for long)and continued to do what they do best, hunt and kill.

MemberDeaconJan-06-2017 5:57 PMI think its a nod a easter Egg to teh Alien Scene...
I am not sure they would go the route to imply the Xenomorph then tries to pursue Hernandez Character in any sexual way...
As far as how the Xenomorph could procreate... maybe they could hint this.. but i dont think Ridley wishes to Trash the Queen.... and i always felt the most Logical explanation for the Alien Deleted Scenes was that the Egg Morph simply created a Egg that hosts either a Juvenile Queen or a Larger Face Hugger that gives rise to a Queen.

MemberTrilobiteJan-06-2017 6:04 PMIf the scenes are sexual assault, it doesn't necessarily mean it is about procreation. Being alien and distinguishing gender differences, maybe the act is about sadistic violence.
