MemberOvomorphDec-30-2016 1:56 PMi.e. (i) is acidic blood inherent to any creature generated by the black goo, including the Neomorph? (ii) or is acidic blood the result of a particular interaction of the black goo with something biomechanical, which would then make it a peculiar feature to the original xenomorph only; (iii) any other view?

MemberNeomorphDec-30-2016 4:23 PMHmmm... Perhaps an android's (Walter) battery acid introduced into Xenomorph evolution? I have no idea!
Good question!

MemberDeaconDec-30-2016 7:12 PMI would say it depends on the Evolutionary Path from Origin ==> Xenomorph
If the Black Goo passes on Acid Blood Traits, then there is a chance the Neomorphs (if they come from the Black Goo) have Acid Blood.
If the Black Goo does not pass on Acid Blood then the Neomorphs may likely not have Acid Blood... but then it would logically mean the Hammerpedes then play the KEY Role into how the Xenomorph came about and not Synthetic Androids..
My Prometheus Re-write was to use a different Fifield, and show he had Acid Blood and so did the Trillobite (which i think has Acid Blood in a cut we have not seen that explains the real reason the Engineer has that Face Burn).
Again my comments i try to analyze logically clues and provide logical responses to every debate... my re-write and my in work Prometheus 2 did the same with the clues.. a little less ambiguous by just adding that slight extra HINT..

i think it's part of the chemical properties ( black goo ) that evolves in what ever life orm form it comes in contact with, but may be intensified depending on specific life forms or life cycle evolution.
so, yes..... the neomorphs would have acid blood to a degree. ( again, IMO )

MemberFacehuggerDec-31-2016 5:52 AMSeeing that the Hammerpede had acid blood suggests to me that all MORB biology has acid blood. From a story standpoint it would be odd and a missed opportunity if it didn't.

MemberFacehuggerDec-31-2016 6:47 AMI started a thread ages ago about whether the Deacon would have acid for blood.
My feeling is that it would as BD points out, look at the hammerpedes! They did and the resulting Deacon came from the same black goo.
That suggests to me that the acidic blood is within the black goo 'DNA'. (where that comes from or what that is are other questions entirely ;)
Re the Neo-morphs - My guess is that they would have acid for blood for the reasons stated above but it does depend on whether all black goo is the same and where the black goo that led to the pods (if indeed that's what happened - I'd guess that's the case though) came from.

MemberFacehuggerDec-31-2016 7:02 AMI'm gonna go with yes because hammerpede, but did the black goo intensify the effect or was that just the natural progression on fifield's helmet?
Falling in the black goo seemed to accelerate the melting process.
Safe? Of course he isn't safe, but he's good!

AdminEngineerDec-31-2016 8:52 AMYep, I'm on board with you guys. The Hammerpedes had acid blood and indicated zero evidence of having biomechanical traits. They were purely organic.
Black Goo is essentially programmable nano-tech DNA, that's why everything infected by it share similar characteristics. The Hammerpede mouth and Facehugger mouth are very similar in design also. So, the acid blood is likely a trait unique to the Black Goo DNA and its lineage. However, like any DNA code, it could be switched off, or altered to supress the acid blood gene. But i feel that would not happen naturally unless circumstances forced that kind of evolution.
