Alien movie again holy crap.

This is disconcerting.

Ah wait a minute...

UPDATE! Blomkamp has tweeted (an unverified account) a possible clarification of the images. It seems as though Blomkamp was working on a possible Alien film on his own. Just for kicks?

Neill Blomkamp @NeillBlomkamp · 12h 12 hours ago Ps this has nothing to do with the studio. I just feel like I might do something else instead. In which case why not show some work-

They do now, don't they?

I doubt Fox won't pay attention to this.

This makes my heart sink.

Nothing prevents Fox making a sequel to Alien: Resurrection. Afterall, Prometheus 2 will still be a prequel to the first Alien. The storylines wouldn't intersect.

Neill Blomkamp making an Alien movie would have been mindblowing.

These designs predate the development of Prometheus? I ask because the idea of biomechanical suits seems to be present in the ideas of Neil Blomkam

Well, there's a date ingrained in green on the picture that says 3/3/2014. It doesn't necessarily mean the drawings were actually made on that same date, but it's all we have for now.

Perhaps someone could ask Blomkamp? I don't have an Instagram account.

Speculating a bit, I think Neil Blomkamp had the idea that Weyland Yutani discovered that the pilot of the ship from LV-426 was a giant man in a spacesuit. Then, the company manufactured its own version by reverse engineering. And considering that Neil Blomkamp loves everything related to robotic suits (see Distic 9 and Ellysium), perhaps he wanted to explore more about the technology of the  Engineers, a technology that can be very important to pilot the alien spacecraft.

i dont think it would be wise to go and undo Alien 3, and yep i gues Resurection.. whats done is done...

If they did a Alien 5 i would be up for that and there is a few possible ways they could do that but add something fresh thats a bit different, but such a movie would have to be set way in the future and i dont think it should have a Ripley at all.... unless they had the movie set 100+ years after Alien Resurection and Ripley has not aged much due to being part Xeno.

But i would love to see a Alien 5 with no Ripley but it would depend what happens in Prometheus part 2 or a 3, as i would imagine that there is nothing left related to the Xeno or Engineers Tech by the time of Aliens, not as far as within say 1'000 Light years of Earth or futher, by that nothing left within the portion of the Galaxy that Mankind from Earth as Explored.

So i would have it that any remains of Engineer Tech or Xeno has to come from the Engineers Homeworld or the Ship that David had hijacked.

It could appear that Ridley is planning to give us a variation of the Xeno by the end of his Prometheus Project and a lot would depend what becomes of this or these creatures by the time the Prometheus Franchise is complete...

Does Shaw ever return to Earth?  that would prove some tricky plot work as far as linking to Alien etc....  Surely someone must lay waste to LV 223 by the end of the franchise...

LV 223 and the Engineers Homeworld and what is on it, are the TWO BIGGEST things that would need to be accounted for by the Time of Aliens as surely at very least LV 223 must bare no fruits by the time of Aliens.. Else why go to LV 426?

Oh as far as the Space Jockey being a suit well, Ridley came out and said that was what it was a long long time ago....

Funny enough maybe the idea was there all along.... as Gigers Original Alien Mural had Space suited beings using one of its own as host to the Alien Lifeform via Face Huger.

We can see maybe these Humanoids could had laid the foundations for the Space Jockey and also the Horseshoe object the foundations for the Derelict/Juggernaughts.

When we look below at the early Face Huger designs we see Bald Humanoids being Face Hugged whos suits look the same as the ones with the helmets in the top image.

These spacesuits do not look Earth made, but something very Alien, and i think our Engineers on LV 223 and their suits was based off these Giger Concepts and also most likely thus the Idea of Bald Humanoids being what is inside the Space Jockey suit is something that came from Gigers Work and not idea Ridley and Spaights came up with.

I would not be suprised if some of Gigers other unused concepts not only from Alien but other concept work will make it into the basis for Prometheus Part 2.

Not meaning to go off topic.... but Ridley said he wants to go back to something like the Original Monster only like a modern take on it..... yet he wanted to tone down the Xeno elements in Prometheus?

The Original Xeno was well a lot like the ones done after... only a few changes...

But Gigers first concept works had a slightly different beast..

This creature had some resemblance to the suits worn by the Humanoids in Gigers Alien Life Cycle and Face Hugger concepts... this also has more Human Hands and Feet and also it resembles the Necronom IV which Ridley liked as the basis for Giger to design a monster for his Alien movie.

After doing the concepts first posted in this post, Ridley then liked the head from Necronom V

so then Giger created a new design that finally evolved into what we got in Alien.

So i would assume Ridley would want to give us something more closer to that, but the last concepts above are too Alieny as far as the Xeno but the first ones do look different and could in a way look like what was in the Frescos in Prometheus.

I loved District 9, but I don't think he could make a gritty sci-fi horror movie.  Cool concepts and great designs mean nothing if you can't tap into that visceral place where the Alien franchise truly lies.  I think the first Alien movie was the only one to really access this and realize what they needed to do....and even they only scratched the surface.  There is a much better Alien movie out there with a Director willing to do whatit takes, we just have to wait.

I couldn't disagree more. District 9 is as gritty as sci-fi yarns can get.

Furthermore, do you know the only thing Ridley Scott himself directed (movie-wise) before Alien? The Duellists, a period piece which has nothing to do with horror, gritiness or aliens. So I really don't think you have a point there.

To be honest im not sure the argument over who can do a gritty horror has much to do with either Director...

How many Horror movies has Ridley done?  Prometheus was not the same kind of Horror Sci-Fi that Alien was, and Blomkamp has had a lot of experience with Sc-Fi movies not only as Director but mainly in other aspects of the creative process.

I dont think we can say that either has one over the other as far as ability to give us a certain kind of movie, we cant say Blomkamp could not give us a Alien kind of movie.

But i think Ridley did pull of a good job, but again we have yet to see Blomkamp really give us a Horror flick so we cant judge him, be that in a positive or negative way....

The story he was trying to tell with the Artwork he did was a replacement sequel to Aliens and i would think from his style of movie so far and including ones he has been a part of that he would have taken us on a Story that would have been a cross between a Aliens and Alien Resurection kind of movie.

I would love to see Blomkamp's interpretation done as a Graphic novel for sure, but i dont think it should be considered as Canon and also i do not see many new things added to this movie he was working on that has not been done in Alien Franchise..

Apart from the Ripley in the Alien suit and also the new kind of Worm/Face Huger, and what would that have led to.. so be interesting i guess to see more concept work....

Maybe just maybe Ridley and Co can take some of his artwork into Prometheus Part 2, i.e a new kind of Xeno Egg, and Face Huger and Off Spring and maybe Shaw in some kind of Space Jockey Suit...

Yer maybe people are meaning different gritty things but as far as realism yes district 9 was a real ish type of movie felt much more real than most sci fis. It was quiet good but I saw the short he did before the main film and I was expecting more but yer I think he could do a good alien type film I mean theres not much competition around these days why not!

As enticing as this is, I really wish they had just let the b***h die on Fury 161.

I mean, Alien 3 was flawed, but I've made some CGI-Free edits of the Assembly Cut, and it plays well.

I swear, once you remove that horrid CG, THE MOVIE IS INSTANTLY improved, and can at least be taken seriously. Also, The Assembly Cut (for those who haven't seen) adds back in Golick's story arc which was all but removed from the theatrical cut. It's pretty cool and has some dark, arguably satanic undertones.

Had they stopped there, we would have an acceptable trilogy. Well, We all know that stupid clone isn't canon anyway...ahem....

Honestly, a new Alien story like Prometheus running parallel to the Alien Saga is the best thing that could have happened. let's leave the poor, beat up old original Franchise alone already.

Life is brutal and Tolkien knew it. This extended Tale speaks of cruelty and malice and all that lies, love, and half truths an bring. In a time when very few Men wrote of wow and desperation, Tolkien was ahead of his time.....
