Sh*t Happens 
Not exactly the kind of magazine you'd imagine a preteen girl to have, but I did. Certainly, this publication grabbed everyone's attention, at one point or another. And especially, if one frequented the magazine racks often. I was originally allowed to have this one; however, by this point I wasn't anymore (after a parental review). I did end-up getting a hold of the magazine before long, again. My Mother slapped me silly for a good 5 minutes; once more issues were found in my possession. And when considering the bizarre lengths I went to; I fully deserved the punishment (at least from her perspective).
I had been able to collect it for almost a year straight, and my main interest was the BR-like strip The Incal (TIL concluded in August). After that, I simply read it in the store, and until my interests gradually shifted to things typically feminine. Without a doubt HEAVY METAL was one of the most influential Sci-Fi publications of our times. Even a symbiotic relationship with Ridley Scott can be easily noted. It's impact on the outcome of films such as A L I E N, and of course BR is indisputable. EXIT/IN (1980) was one of the first strips that I could relate to or felt a connection with. The multi-part article The Third Sexual Revolution (1982), is included below, too. And along with the illustrated version of Paradise Lost (1980).
