I had no clue where to post this so I decided to choose Blade Runner fiction since I figured this new movie is based on Philip K Dick book. ANYWAYS, has anyone heard or seen this movie yet? I am thinking about renting it since it is available on Amazon. Radio Free Albemuth Here is the trailer for the movie as well: RADIO FREE ALBEMUTH OFFICIAL MAIN TRAILER So, any thoughts or what do you think?? I just heard about this movie earlier this week and never heard of the book as well but I figured it could be a good sci-fi movie but I wanted to see if anyone here has read the book or seen the movie. Anyways, cheers!

i've read nearly all of the 50-60 novels he wrote, this is a good one, not one of his best but even his half good ones are miles better than the best every other sci fi writer has to offer. it's part of a trilogy that includes THE TRANSMIGRATION OF TIMOTHY ARCHER, V.A.L.I.S and RADIO FREE ALBEMUTH. i still haven't been able to read Valis. it is the hardest book of his to ever try and understand, and i've given up now 15 times. i plan to do it before i get too old to. fkb :)

VALIS (1981) is certainly quite the read, and it took me several attempts as well (starting when I was 12). In regard to the RFA movie; it looks far too low-budget. And quite likely this time; some Dick best left unseen.

Ok that flashing pink thing is making me dizzy! What is the text saying when it is not flashing, just curious! Also, the VALIS book that you just mentioned is kind of confusing me! Since I never read the books, I went on wiki to read a bit more about Valis/RFA and check this out: "Radio Free Albemuth is a dystopian novel by Philip K. Dick, written in 1976 and published posthumously in 1985. Originally titled VALISystem A, it was his first attempt to deal in fiction with his experiences of early 1974. When his publishers at Bantam requested extensive rewrites he canned the project and reworked it into the VALIS trilogy. Arbor House acquired the rights to Radio Free Albemuth in 1985. They then published an edition under the current title (the original was too close to VALIS), prepared from the corrected typescript given by Dick to his friend Tim Powers." How come the Radio Free Albemuth movie isn't called "Valis" instead? And is it true that "Valis" or "Radio Free Albemuth" (I'm still confused lol) is considered one of the HARDEST book to read from Phillip K. Dick? I've read 2 comments from Phillip K. Dick fans that say this book is extremely hard to read/finish/understand/etc. One even claimed that he tried to finish the book 20 times but was unable to do so each time! Now he says he is going to complete it this time because he wants to read the book before seeing the Radio Free Albemuth movie.

I was still very young when I first started on Dick. And my first read was Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep. I got the book sporting it's then new BR-cover, May 1982. My initial reaction was that I didn't like it much; although, I was aware the forthcoming film was only loosely based on his novel.

More than a fair bit was beyond my own capability of properly understanding it (at the time). Despite my early difficulties in comprehension; I did continue reading his stories for sometime to come. One benefit in taking-on Dick now; is the reader can easily get detailed insight into the author. As there are many do***entaries to been seen; concerning what kind of man he was, plus what made him tick. I believe in my own past-experience, this would have alleviated some of the frustration.
