not to be odd but their pretty much the same thing because they but have an alien species invade earth so what does it matter which one is better.

Pacific Rim just hit every note perfect for me. I am still a transformers fan, as I grew up with that, but Pacific Rim just feels better in every way.

Pacific Rim had a more grounded feel overall (due to certain attention to details) and a bigger story about humanity. I think that's what set it apart from Transformers.
