MemberNoobDec-05-2013 2:32 AMOk I have no clue which thread to post this on but decided fan work would be appropriate since I bet the developer of this project is taking some awesome inspirations from the blade runner movie but bear with me here!
ANYWAYS....let me introduce you to:
Dex - Cyberpunk 2D RPG
What is Dex? A story-driven action/stealth 2D sidescrolling RPG with a fresh new vision of cyberspace/cyberpunk! Also, you play as a female lead character which is awesome because there is way too video games that only allow the player to play as a male character.
This game reminds me of the classic Metroid NES and Super Metroid SNES games (lead character is actually a female in those games as well) blended in with Blade Runner except you are a female version of Rick Deckard? I will let YOU be the judge of that by checking out this short trailer video by clicking the link below!
Dex Announcement Trailer (HD)
Here is a small background info about the game via copy/paste
"Explore the dark alleys of Harbor Prime and a host of diverse locations in both physical reality and the wild reaches of cyberspace. Discover the truth behind an enigmatic AI striving to reach the Singularity, a theoretical “event horizon†in which artificial intelligence will surpass human intelligence and all bets about the future will be off. How will you play your part in the story?"
The best part about this project is that it already raised the amount of money to actually make and release the game in 8 DAYS after it launched! BUT there is some kick ass stretch goals as well. Most of all a copy of this game will only cost you £7 pounds which is about $11.50 in American money and as a hardcore gamer like myself since I own all the video game systems that is a steal for a good looking game like DEX.
Oh I forgot to link you the project, silly me!

This will be released on the Windows, Mac, Linux, Ouya and possibly the Nintendo Wii U if the £26k stretch goal is achieved and recently it was set at £28k but the project leader found a way to cut £2k out of it because the project leader himself also wants to see this game on the Nintendo Wii U. Hell, I would LOVE to play this on the Wii U GamePad in the dark while laying in bed.
Anyways, so yeah check it out and support it if you can! If this doesn't look like yer cup of tea then maybe you know someone else that may enjoy it? I am just a fan that is REALLY looking forward to playing this game on the PC since it will be released on that first obviously but I would totally re-play it again on the Wii U if the stretch goal is met.
Here are some screen shots!

Whew! All done! So what do you think? Am I the only one that is getting a blade runner vibe from this or am I just going crazy here?

Admin2KDec-05-2013 12:07 PMThat looks super interesting, I will def check it out! There is another Cyberpunk game in development that was likened to 'Blade Runner' as well. It is in production by CD Projekt RED, the same people who made the game 'The Witcher'. It's based on Mike Pondsmith's Cyberpunk World RPG.
The trailer is linked in the threads I posted below, and OMFG it looks mind blowing, very 'Deus-Ex' meets 'Blade Runner'.
Here, take a look:

MemberNoobDec-05-2013 3:23 PMholy sh*t @Svanya! Thank you SO much for sharing that with me because I could of SWORN that I have heard of that game once or twice but it totally went off my radar due to the fact that I was working in the video game industry during that time. When you are working 80-120 hours a week, you tend to forget ALOT of things which sucks because I have came across MANY MANY MANY cool things that are long forgotten but that's why I created myself a small notepad "keep an eye on" list which is saved on my desktop.
It is kind of like how writers/comedians/etc have a small notepad next to their bed on the small table that holds their clock/glass of water/glasses/etc because sometimes you may come up with a cool/funny/etc idea and you totally forget it when you wake up in the morning after sleeping. Hell, sometimes you think of it during the middle of the night when you wake up from a dream or taking a piss, etc.
Anyways, the release date for that game is looking at a 2015 date which is great because the longer the game is worked on, the more polished the game will be since the video games of today are just a hit and miss but there are more misses than hits due to companies spending millions of dollars to rush a game without actually caring about the quality of the game. This is why small independent developers/designers/composers/etc are on the rise lately because working for some giant greedy corporation company is not fun and in the end you don't really have any freedom to do what you want when making a game. Several developers are getting together in a small house or a basement with 5-10 employees all working together like a small little company and making games that they are passionate about while charging 3 times less than the $60-$100 cost of big over budget games from big smelly greedy corporate video game companies.
Anyways the best part about this Cyberpunk 2077 game is that the developers behind that game are famous for making the Witcher series which is a very well respected game in the hardcore gamer audience. Sure it doesn't sell as many copies as Call of Doodie but the Witcher series has always been very well received and it truly is a cool yet unique game as well
Hell, I recommend checking this trailer out for Witcher 3 to give you an idea just how truly talented those developers are when it comes to making video games and seriously click the trailer link down below!

Admin2KDec-05-2013 6:26 PM@tetris911; Haha np! I am glad you liked my post! It looks freaken' awesome doesn't it!? OMG I am so excited for this game to get made, CD Projekt RED is a great company. I loved the 'The Witcher' series so far (have played all the 'The Witcher' games). I am very excited for 'The Witcher 3' to come out. Geralt is a total badass. :P

Whoa! I didn't know you had a fetish for "Blade BDSM Runner" because I do too! What a small world we live in! These pictures and videos are great! I am saving it right now Svanya, you rock! (lol)
and yes the Witcher series is awesome! the 3rd one looks VERY promising but I hope it isn't rushed because normally in the game industry the 3rd game of a trilogy/series can sometimes be the weakest or least favorite. HOWEVER, the 3rd game does do an excellent job of addressing/fixing whatever problems or small things that gamers had with the 1st or 2nd game of whichever series. Look at back to the future for example, 1 and 2 were excellent but 3rd was the least favorite but it isn't awful by all means, it's just not the best of all three. Also, the uncharted games for PS3. I love Uncharted 1 and 2 but the 3rd one wasn't my absolute favorite due to the story but there was an insane amount of crazy scenes in the game that you could actually participate rather than watching a video sequence/cgi/etc.
I am sure that Witcher 3 gameplay will be the best of the series but the story I don't know, we have to wait and see.

Admin2KDec-06-2013 12:23 AM@tetris911; I dunno about that because 'BioShock' and 'BioShock Infinite' were great but the second installment, 'BioShock 2', was pretty 'meh'. I mean it was good but it just wasn't anything special, didn't have that same feel to it. Ken Levine led the creation of 'BioShock' and 'BioShock Infinite', but had no involvement in 'BioShock 2' so that prob has something to do with it. Same with 'Fallout 3', 'Deus Ex-Human Revolution' and Elder Scrolls 3 aka 'Morrowind' they were great games despite being third in a series.
*(Yes I know, Fallout3 and Morrowind were both made by Bethesda).
I thought 'The Witcher 2' was better than the first in every possible way and I trust the devs will make an ever better game with the third installment.
