I found it interesting that the skeletons have similar bone sizes, (I just learned about this in science class) the ones of Giganotosaurus are slightly smaller, but barely. Especially the legs. They are about the same width, so they probably carried the same weight. There is no way that T. rex could be 8-9 tons at 42 feet long while Giganotosaurus only pushes 8 tons. At least based on this. I will find more pictures like this, so expect a revision.

MemberTyrannosaurus RexOct-31-2013 8:08 PMInteresting. This does show that Rex was indeed for heavily built. It is entirely possible that Giag was heavier (or at least equal in weight), but it would appear that Rex was pound for pound heavier

MemberCompsognathusOct-31-2013 9:53 PMLonger does not mean heavier. There are many dinosaurs(and other animals) that are more slender and lighter weight, despite being as long or longer than another animal.
Just a few examples...
Deltadromeus and Ceratosaurus.
Diplodocus and Brachiosaurus.
Anaconda and Crocodile.
Giraffe and Elephant.
Etc.
You make an interesting point Delta, but there are some holes in it :)
