MemberNoobOct-07-2013 3:06 PMPacific Rim had such a well-realized near future Earth with giant robots and otherworldly forces, and mixed its action and character drama a lot better than many blockbuster-style films. If you, too, liked that experience, you should check out The Road to Betrayal (Universal War: ARM X) on Kindle. It's the first book in an upcoming series. It also has a well-realized near future Earth, but it connects closer with our current times and issues. On the surface, it starts with concepts like civil wars, but there is a much bigger extraterrestrial threat threat looming, and a secret organization hidden beneath the surface, separate from the global government, that must keep itself hidden while preparing for this threat. The action is amazing, and the characters and plot are interesting and show a lot of promise for the announced sequels. Having read it, I highly recommend it. You can take a look below:

MemberNoobOct-15-2013 12:55 AMGigaman: Looks interesting and I might check it out, but I'm not sure it has as much in common with Pacific Rim as ARM X. The one I was suggesting earlier here, ARM X, has the giant humanoid robots/mecha (albeit not as big), along with a specialized international defense force that uses a nerve-based interface reminiscent of the Neural Handshake.
